It's amazing how much the song changes. Goldfinger's version has that dissonance between the music and lyrics common in ska and skapunk where you have happy jumpy high-energy music over cynical and sometimes downright nihilistic lyrics. Your version slowing it down lets the lyrics shine through and adds a bit of melancholy to a lamentation of anxiety and the pressures of the world to Be A Thing you're not ready to be yet. It's like the Goldfinger version is denial and your version is acceptance.

The one thing I've come to realize in my advanced age (42) is: Adults (for the most part) are just as clueless as they were when they were teenagers, only now we have to step up and pretend we have a clue as to what the hell we are doing. This song is that poeticized. I hope every person on earth hears the original and falls in love with the energy but has no real concept of the message and then 20 years later hears this version.
