Hey Morgan, here's an interesting tidbit about duck and geese hybrids: while they can't mate and hybridize, shelducks _can._ They're an ancient order of anatiforms, the "missing link" between geese, swans, and ducks, and they can create mules with all three! That's why some people swear they have a doose or guck, they say "my African goose mated with my cayuga!" or some such. Well, guess what, the African goose is not a true goose, but a shelduck. Whoever named these birds really needs to be sacked.

Giving liquid meds to a pet is never easy. My experience is to introduce the syringe into one side of the mouth, near the back teeth, where there is a natural gap and slowly push the meds in, a little at a time. This prevents choking and violent head shakes so much. Still a problem to do but this way is some easier, just a thought. Hope she gets better.

You can breed pheasants and chickens on the other hand tho. You end up with really wonky looking sterile creature. I once had 5 chicken hens and one pheasant rooster living together. Chicken sat on eggs, I didnt have anything else to give her to sit, so I thought I will let her sit on those not fertilised eggs and then give her some freshly hatched chicks I bought just for this reason. Let me tell you that I was shocked when I went to exchange eggs with chicks and one egg was hatching.

Back then you mentioned wanting to add more livestock bit by bit into the farm. Cows are probs the default ones to go for but why not invest on goats first? They take less resources and they can easily mow down your pesky weeds for you.
@samsadowitz17244 жыл бұрын
The only downside with goats is they will pull up the entire plant, roots and all, when they feed. I would recommend sheep instead for the same reasons you gave for goats
@KKIcons3 жыл бұрын
@@samsadowitz1724 Goats nibble more on the weeds and really prefer the rough leaves and branches. They are great for brush clearing and would know what to do with that weedy patch shown in the video. We were always told that it was the sheep that pull up the whole plant, but if no one is doing that irl that is great! Probably overgrazing and not doing intensive grazing, and not enough rainfall in the harsh conditions was causing the bad rap sheep got here in TX.

If you cover the top of the back half of the crate with a towel, Lil will feel more comfortable. She is hurt & healing, cats like to hide when they aren't feeling well. She will not be upset at being confined until she is feeling better, because of this. You are providing plenty of food & water, so no need for her to go hunting. Also if Pablo brings you a dead mouse ( they bring gifts sometimes :) ) you might feed it to Lil for the extra protein. Suposedly, mice are the perfect meal for cats. ( Read that somewhere ). Btw - chickens Love weed seeds. Wait for the weeds in your corn patch to mature & shake the tops - full of seeds - into a bucket. Righ now, the corn is loosing the race. If you plant corn next year, try cultivating between the rows once or twice while everything is small, to give the corn a chance to beat out the weeds.

That would actually be like a surrogate mother, implanted foal... test tube baby, if it didn't have it's father's chromosomes. That was a scientific experiment to see if the mule could do it.
@KenS12674 жыл бұрын
@@SQW0 It's not quite like how the OP described. A mule has an odd number of chromosomes due to the parents not have the same number of pairs. IIRC horses have 64 while donkeys have 62. So on occasion if a mule is mated to a horse or donkey it can produce offspring with little if any characteristics of the grandparent not matching the non mule parent.

Hello, instead of using cat litter sand I use Pine Pellets (that are used in a Pellet Stove as fuel). The result is never any cat smells of any kind. When the cat urinates on the pellets they puff up and the up side is that the end result is bio degradable. Pine Pellets are a much more economical way to go instead of the clay based litter. I enjoy your videos.

The babies were kind of wild so they couldn't be tamed.They let the babies go when they followed other cottontails and off they went. So they can. I had a flock of chickens, guineas, geese, ducks, turkeys, and peacocks that all got along (most of the time, once in awhile the turkeys bullied the other birds). The water birds often hung out together and the chickens got along with everyone. The pecocks and turkeys were not the most fond of each other, but if they ever got in a tussle one of the ganders would always charge in and break it up. It was a really funny dynamic to watch.

As far as weeds in your feedlot, I would suggest growing pumpkins or some sort of squash in with the peas and corn like the “three sisters method” not only would that give you extra produce to sell in the fall for jack ‘o lanterns, or use for supplementing the diet of the flock but it acts as a ground cover to prevent weeds and raccoons apparently don’t like to step on the prickly leaves of the squash. Worth a try and I feel like it would be good video content.

anatidae has the ending ae which used to be its own letter in English; Æ/æ. It's used to pluralize Latin words, so you'll find it at the end of scientific family classifications. It's supposed to be pronounced like "ee" in "feet" or "ea" in "Wheat". It's an extended e sound. But people have forgotten this, and aren't really taught it, so people have taken to wrongly pronouncing it "ay" like in "say" or "i/y" like in "file" or "style". And of course, if a word is mispronounced enough that it becomes the common pronunciation, the language changes and wrong becomes right. So for anatidae: 'anatidee' = correct 'anatiday' = incorrect but becoming more common 'anatidye' = incorrect but becoming more common Same goes for cats, felidae: 'felidee' great apes, hominidae: 'hominidee' woofers, canidae: 'canidee' etc.
