I took the needle holder screw from my machine to the local hardware store and told them I need this same screw only twice as long. They found me the correct screw for less than a dollar. It fit!
I have had my DDL 8700 for two weeks now thanks for your coaching I have never before sewed anything now Im having more fun than a barrel of monkies.

@@CB-hi7mf Hmmm, .....You replied 6 days ago to a 3 year old question...I have a similar need....Which hardware store?..The threading is 1/8"-44 and the original screw has a length of 4.5 mm...Thanks..

I read that if you moisten the eye of the needle, the dry thread is attracted to it and goes right in. I tried it. It works.

Thank you for doing this video. I have been wondering for a long time if there was a walking foot for industrial single needle machine for quite some time. I have the DDL 8700-7 that has back tack and thread cutter on it...... wondering if the little arm on the right side of the needle will get in the way.......I love this machine!

What screw did you use for the needle set screw to hold the walking foot arm?
@deankay44342 ай бұрын
The other videos I have seen use an “M3” metric = M. The length is roughly 19mm or 3/4”. One inch is 25.4 mm so 13mm = 1/2”, 19mm = 3/4” and 25mm = 1” by package. I am a retired ASE Master tech who worked on vehicles like dealerships, but I see leather seats. Use a slow speed and position the foot and needle for no interference. Do not pull except lightly as this bends needle and can break. Hope this helps!

Taking a chance someone will reply.... will this walking foot work with the TL-2000QI better than the big bulky one that comes with it? This one looks smaller. My feeddog also cuts into the back when making vinyl bags. Can it be replaced with a Teflon feeddog and not do that? Thank you :)

Hi Dave I have a high shank ruffler. if i was to buy the long needle screw do you think it may work ok on my ddl8700 as its only the horseshoe shape that sits around the needle bar/screw on my Janome 6600p. Thank you in advance.

They sale needle threaders for pennies on eBay. I leave them everywhere to thread the machine. Works great for eyes that are not so good.

I put this on my machine, at first it didn't work because it was out of alignment. I gently pressed the arm on the walking foot in a spring like manner to align it. It works GREAT. Perfect for quilting.

Thank you for the info about the walking foot. I have a Juki DDL 8700 that is about 10 years old now. I wonder if there is a way for it to do a zig zag stitch on any Juki and, 2., I have to put the needle in sideways because it never worked when the groove in the needle was facing me. Was that a malfunction in the factory? I have never seen a needle that installs with the groove in the needle facing the right side of the machine. Take care. Barbara

Barbara Mobarak hi. Can’t speak for other machines. But on 8700 needle groove is on right side. Also can’t comment on doing ZigZag on this machine but would love to know myself.

Most of the industrials, every brand, thread from left to right, not many at all thread from front to back. I have used many different brands for over 40 years. I am talking on a straight stitch single needle machines.

I want to know what will happen if you change the thread to a leather thread? I am still researching butI have heard there are different types of threads for leather.

My question, is do you have to keep a slower speed when using the walking foot? They are useful for sewing fine fabrics like silk, tulle, etc. but I am afraid that I would need to sew much much slower than normal with my Juki. I hope you can respond to some questions. thank you

I would like to see a reply here or at least to someone else, can you confirm where you obtained the longer needle screw? I have tried several hardware stores and the threads don't seem to match up with the hole and I can't fully use the same sized screw. Or can you at least let us know if that's available for purchase through you. I already have a walking foot, I would like to use it with my DDL 8700.

I recently bought a screw to turn my ddl 8100e into a walking foot. I got the M3-05 x 12mm. I had a cord lock attached to the body of the screw so that the walking foot lever fits into it snugly when sewing. I hope I am making sense as I am explaining this at 146am. 😂 But that is the size of the screw we bought. It came in a pack of 3 at canadian tire.

Still Can't Locate the longer screw for the needle bar to make the walking foot attachment work on the DDL-8700...Have found the original screws (part# SS-7080510-TP) offered from a number of sources, but as for a longer one...No Joy...The spec size for the original is 1/8-44 ( 4.5mm long)...In the video it was indicated that I should have one in my cache of misc. spare parts...On many of the machines parts lists, the size is not even indicated, just referred to as "screw"...
