If your talking about the passenger backrest, yes that must come off to remove the top of the lid. If your talking about the seat itself, then no, if your not doing anything electrical, you can leave the seat on.

Snipping the plugs off voids Goldstrike's warranty...Pretty pricey for a voided warranty..In fact if you don't use their 48000 harness they won't honer the warranty...jes-sayin.

Your brothers way is the way to not void the Honda warranty in the event of warranty electrical issues..If wired the Goldstrike way you are adding load to the canbus which is not a good idea.Always best to run ad-on accessories from an independent relay.@@RoysMotoVentures
