You have the best videos! and you explain it like one of my buddies. My friend won't do it for you but will walk me through it. So I can handle it myself. I've watched the starter video and took off the sleeper stuff and capitalized on the 33 more horse power. On my 1981 gl 1100. And turned it into a bobber with 14 inch handle bars and a bullet headlight and drag performance clutch plates. It's BAD ASS! thanks for the videos! Any one can ride a Harley. But not just anyone can ride a 1981 Honda GL1100 Gold Wing!

I have a 1974 360 honda that leaks oil out the camshaft seal onto the points causing misfire. I bought a new seal. Question is this, there is a bolt and washer on the end of camshaft. Is it right or left thread and would removing it allow just the point cam lobe to be removed or would the whole camshaft have to come out to replace the seal. My cam shaft does not seem to have any lateral play, so I am thinking a seal replacement should stop the leak.

Hey Brother lock your video I'm 60 years old just got my first Gold Line I'm finally got it started the other day and I'm leaking gas right near the carburetors I think it's after it comes out of the fuel pump and goes to the carburetors does that separate into all the carburetors up there I can't see it unless I take the whole thing apart
@dawino62602 жыл бұрын
which goldwing (makes a difference) -- either you are going to have a pop box with a rail and little loopy fittins that need o-rings or it's a line from one side to the other external of the intake plenum/manifold/(that thiggywatzit above the carbs, below the airbox) .. either way you have to pop em out and usually I get the screws loose in the intake plenum/box where the carbs join it BEFORE I ever pop the bolts loose on the carbs if my intent is to split the racks -- linkage has to come off but just the big bar - and your enrichers have to be out BEFORE you pull the box... once out then remove the screws you loosened on the carbs at the airbox/plenum -- both racks can at that point be split .. little tube with o-ring seals if its leaking between them -- you can pop the racks out without splitting them if your intent is to just replace rotted/aged bowl gaskets and give em a good cleaning (might just tape em lightly first with the plastic end of a heavy screwdriver while idling and see are they just loosely stuck floats) Really common on oldies to still have some gas left in em that went sour and wont let your gaskets wet up right away if it sat for long -tends to hang up the floats and make it flow out the vents -- also there is a fuel filter up in there in the middle of the line running to the carbs on some that is located right about the middle between the 2 racks at the rear of them that is really prone to stock wire clamps not being enough if it had alcohol gas in a 1200 back to 1000 if the lines had not been replaced and they get allowed to sit more than a few months (basically true of all pre-1988 Honda motorcycles) - put on some fresh line with good corbin clamps if thats the case -- sometimes it's just chogged with varnish and it's the input side that breaks seal from pressure and being dried out ... hope I was helpful .. If you get more specific, I can be more specific

I have a question, I own a 1984 honda goldwing aspencade (gl1200) with only 89k on it and she is driving me nuts. At the start of this year after ohio's winter slumber i noticed she started idling rough and at about 2400 to 2650 RPM's she wants to back fire so I changed the plugs, fuel filter, ran seafoam thru her new fuel line, tune up in a bottle, went to 91 octane gas and a new air filter, adjusted idle up and she still wants to spudder at 2400to2650 rpms. oh new timing belts @ 80k by pro.

I pulled my spark plug wire of my plug to clean the plug and one of the boot's come off , now it runs rough . my ? is does those boots come off easy or do i have a prob. with my wire?
@sum12959 жыл бұрын
albert Pilot A ¨boot¨ (ht cap) that clips onto the bulb tip of a spark plug (like on cars) screws onto the ht lead (wire), normally used on single cylinder bikes. A ¨boot¨ that clips onto the threads of the spark plug (bulb tip removed) is normally crimped onto the ht lead. If you pulled on the ht lead to remove from the spark plug then it is likely that you have caused a break in the line somewhere around that boot (especially as it came off), this will cause a missfire or poor running. Either snip a little (5-10mm) and rescrew, or just use some pliers to re-crimp.

In my case it's a rusted baffle clanking inside one can where it should be attached - I just now got lucky and found a 4 into 1 header of unknown make with a Kerker K45 can attached.... Ebay is a wonderful thing.... Early VF's were prone to premature cam wear though - usually they are close enough you can re-shim em and run em forever anyway - But Hell I just saw a set of cams new in box on ebay for 180 bucks - if ya gotta take it apart that far...............

Most modern fuel filters are cheap and tend to wear holes in themselves when vibrating against metal for long periods of time .. voice of I did that when I was young and dumb .. and ended out pushing a 1980 goldwing from mile marker 73 on i-70 in Kansas to the nearest exit ... I remember the mile marker because I stashed my bag of weed by it (weed was still illegal back then) and went back later to fetch it ... only to find it was gone ..
