Great day Mo. Nice job. I went thru changing mine before I came across your video. The problem I'm having is leaking. I followed the book brand new gasket. The book call for Yamabond 4 sealant. I bought the Hondabond 4 instead, and to place it on top and bottom of the crankcase cover. For some reason I'm still getting a leak I have repeated this process three times and went thru three new gaskets. Could I be missing something. Really looking for any feedback you can share. Thanks again. Happy to hear your wife is better.

@mosmotorcyclejourney90672 жыл бұрын
Well I never unplugged it. I just unscrewed it and transferred it over. But u do remember seeing the plug , so it would be rather easy. Just make sure you have a new gasket for the cover and I also put in some gasket sealer so I wouldn't have no leaks guaranteed 😉 . Just a tiny thin coat. Plus it helps hold the gasket on as you reassemble it. Good luck. 👍 and thanks for the comment

Mo what was the motor side look like when the cover was off. My bike at about 6000 miles wouldn't start. Moved the kickstand up and down, on off switch and she fired up. No more problem, then about 2000 miles later it wouldn't start and counted the engine blinks on the light and ignition pulse generator. Pretty big job by the book. Under warranty so took it in and its replaced in no time. But was curious is timing chain under it or just a dust cover. Thanks Mo
@mosmotorcyclejourney90672 жыл бұрын
That is the cover for the timing chain. So when removed all you see is the main crank shaft with two chains. One going to the left and one going to the right. And because it's a chain not a belt like the 1500s it is lubricated with the oil from the bike motor. Now on the backside of the cover is the spark generator that attaches with two bolts too the cover I installed. Now my question to you is I'm not aware of the kickstand stopping it from starting? From my understanding the kick stand will stall the bike if it's down when you put it in gear.
@randywallace20182 жыл бұрын
@@mosmotorcyclejourney9067 yes it wasn't the kickstand it was that pulse generator, I was tried the kickstand, on off switch the key on and off and she fired up and 2000 miles later wouldn't start and nothing would make it start. Thanks for the info of what's behind the cover. Good info you the man
@mosmotorcyclejourney90672 жыл бұрын
@@randywallace2018 not a problem. And thank you for letting me know what problem you had and what was the cause. So now if mine does a no start issue I will go that far to replace that generator. Be safe and thanks again for the info.

Hi mo, that looks great there,the fender extension will protect it too..looks a quality made cover too. Did the pulse gen swap over easy? Your bike is mint condition ans nice to see. Iv just installed saddle bag ( panniers) lights and wiring to my 02 wing.hi to all and mrs mo. 👍🇬🇧
@mosmotorcyclejourney90672 жыл бұрын
Yes Gary. I put the fender extension on last summer. And if I ever get another goldwing I will do that fender extension. My timing cover looked bad because of rocks hitting it over the years. But now it should be fine. It was not hard to change over the pulse generator at all. Just 2 more bolts. This was the only piece that was not in perfect condition on the bike. And it was bothering the heck out of me. My wife is doing much better thank you. Also I didn't forget you just have presidents day today however tomorrow I will contact you. Had to get all my ducks in a row. And make sure I give you something you can use. Lol. Sorry for the delay. Be safe sir. 🇺🇲👍🙏

Hey, quick question: I've received a FI 19 code - pulse generator error that has occurred twice so far. How long did it take you to replace the cover? Honda quoted me $1000 with 5 hours of labor & $200 for the part. I specifically stated my GW was a non ABS bike and a quick Internet search also showed under $75 for the pulse generator ...friggin thieves.
@raybearden959410 ай бұрын
It's the labor. I am currently changing mine on a 2015. I had to remove the airbox... if you have changed the air ckeaner, you were half way there.

I am always in the market for a cycle. The blue one I was looking at was a 2012 and had 2300 miles on it. I talked to the guy for over a month trying to get him to drop the price some considering it's like brand new. 🤔 but he will not budge off of 21 thousand. I'm like ok. Looks like you will keep it for now. And maybe when it doesn't start because he doesnt ride it he will come down on his price. He bought it brand new and is scared of it. Too big he says. I just thought 21 thousand was a little steep. Lol so I'm always looking however I replaced that cover because if I ever sold mine there is nothing the new seller could pick apart. And I like a clean cycle. Thanks for the comment and for watching. Be safe.
