Love your videos. I travel SA all 9provinces all year round, towing a 6metre dubble axle trailer loaded. All you have to make sure is that there is not too much weight behind the back axle. Here in Gqeberha we call it the 4pound hammer effect, swinging around because of the weight.

Worst case scenario in my eyes would be new bottom end internals.. crank, bearings, rings etc.. if the engine didnt over heat then head and block should still be sharp.. Also it'd make great content.. havent seen a mk8 gti engine rebuild on KZbin yet.. would be great for South Africa as well.. K thanks bye 🎉

Saw a video here on KZbin, some dude comparing this current EA888 gti with the previous generation. He discovered that this engine uses the golf 7R EA888 parts. So I think this could make the rebuild a bit affordable compared to getting a new engine.

I have an mk7 gti and currently running with 190 000 km on the clock, i have never had any issues with the car except for a water pump & thermostat housing, ignition coils and brake lights not switching off while driving, looking at the way you found it, man it broke my heart to see an mk8 in that state. how did it even get to that state.

It’s almost always cheaper to repair, but I say if you can get a complete motor for around 150k, I’d just fit the complete motor and have spare parts on the side. Or slowly rebuild the damaged motor with forged internals.

Sheeeeeeesh. That MK8 owner must have ran something over that was massive, to put a hole in his oil pan like that. His MK8 isn't even lowered too! I am the original owner of a 2017 MK7 GTI, and its been lowered almost its entire life. I have it things, including speed bumps that I couldn't see, and I have never had my plastic oil pan get destroyed like this.
