Also the onboard BMS in these devices are designed to work with a standard lead acid system so in theory as long as you don't exceed the rate of capacity you should be able to use your regular golf cart chargers to charge it up once it's in the golf cart double check that but in theory that should work

My buddy just bought some power queen lithiums for his boat. They weight about 23 pounds each, and I think he paid 480 for two . They were recommended by another fisherman that has been running them in his for a year with no issues. I think I’m going to grab a set for my boat. Some lesser known knockoff companies are putting out some quality stuff.

Looks like they work good. Those are very lightweight. Btw, tomorrow I'm driving 75 miles from Cincinnati to Shelbyville, Indiana to witness 4 minutes of darkness at 3 pm. I will be in the middle of totality there. Might as well go check it out.

I'm not aware of any laws regarding capacity for shipping typically however the batteries will be 40 to 60% shipped this is because that's the state of the battery is the most healthy in if you're going to store for example over the winter you should only charge a two or run it down to around 60% with lithium batteries although this is less of a problem with lithium iron phosphate it's one of the reasons why they're desired being fully depleted is damaging and being fully charged is damaging so if you're going to store them for a long time it's good to run them down to around 60% and then store them like that yours probably ran down more because they were probably sitting in the warehouse for a while and those extra goodies you have on there with the outlets and stuff like that are probably a parasite drain

And the language you are used to that's actually a 200 amp hour battery You're used to let acid batteries which you can really only ever use half of their rated capacity so 100 amp hour battery is really just a 50 amp hour usable capacity with this battery you get 100% or close to 100% of the usable capacity so you actually get 100 amp hours of usable power I'm posting this at the beginning of your video it's only a minute in so you might actually discover this yourself so I apologize if you already found this out One of the reasons the battery is so cheap is because it's a low output battery batteries have two qualities their capacity and their ability to deliver that capacity fast high power batteries cost more because they have to meet tighter tolerances higher quality levels to be able to put out large amounts of power in a short period of time So for example that battery is probably rated at a 100 amp output that's only 1.28 kW so if you have for example three of them and you run them in series well then you have effectively almost 4 kW of output The question is is that enough for a golf cart? The golf cart needs power output when you mash down the throttle now what that means is if it doesn't have enough power output for you you can simply add more batteries so for example six batteries and now you'll have 8 kilowatts of power which should be more than enough or maybe 4 kilowatts will be enough so if you end up with an insufficient amount of maximum power not capacity you simply need to make a second 36 volt pack and run in parallel which will double your available ability to output power that's the consequence of the cheaper batteries They also make 100 amp hour batteries that are significantly smaller a lot of the space inside that battery is actually empty space because it's designed to meet a certain class of battery to fit in an existing space so they do have more compact versions of the 100 amp hour battery which will allow you to fit more inside of your golf cart it'll be interesting to see if free is enough if not six probably is enough One catch though most of them do not have low temperature charge protection so make sure you do not charge them while they're frozen as it will damage them.

With 300 amp hours you'll be able to go miles and miles. My 48 volt cart has 2-48 volt 40 ah batteries in parallel and I can go 20+ miles.
@ScrapFarm3 ай бұрын
It would only be 300 hours if it was ran parallel. These are ran in series, so it's still only a 100 amp hours....
@nerys713 ай бұрын
@@ScrapFarm That's semantics you have 300 amp hours you have 36 volts you really do have both sort of the correct way to look at this is to stop referring to voltage and amps and refer to what hours essentially you have 6.7 kilowatt hours or something close to that whether it's in a 12 volt parallel configuration or a 36 volt series configuration you still have 6.7 kilowatt hours and he's right You're going to be able to go crazy far on that
@ScrapFarm3 ай бұрын
@@nerys71 we will see..... You know how it is? There's a lot of people saying all kinds of things, but you never really know until you try yourself.... I just didn't want to try for a couple grand... We're getting our toes wet. And there might be some more cheap batteries from China in our future.
@nerys713 ай бұрын
@ScrapFarm for sure just remember though if something does go wrong with these the batteries themselves are probably going to be okay if anything fails it'll be the BMS inside lithium iron phosphate batteries are just really reliable just make sure you don't charge it when it's below freezing put a battery warmer on it or something if you want to be able to use and charge it in the winter some manufacturers are finally starting to put low temperature charge protection where they simply won't charge of the temperatures too low Besides that they're pretty tough and pretty hard to kill and you should get around 20 years out of them The 10-year projected lifespan is for 3,000 to 5,000 charge cycles and that's only to 85% or 80% SOC which means there's actually quite a lot of life left in them after that and lithium iron phosphate technology is actually older than lithium ion technology if I remember correctly lithium ion replaced it simply because it has higher power density but now people are learning that the longevity of lithium iron phosphate is really valuable :-) I am thrilled to see that three of them were more than enough for the golf cart that was one of my major concerns scrounging up enough money for three batteries is one thing six is another even though it's cheaper than the leads it's still more than my budget can afford although golf carts sell for unobtanium prices out here because you're allowed to use them in the local areas so they're worth a lot more

Two potential problems One you should have made sure they could be stacked in series not all BMS is can do that he needs to know the surge of the BMS you might be drawing more than 100 amps I've seen this problem when pulling hills you will pop the BMS because of the surge something to look out for
@ScrapFarm3 ай бұрын
They can up to 5 in series
