Golf club repair: Bore Thru Reshaft, old school

Thanks to another video I did, a customer from Lexington Ky sent a Callaway heaven wood 6H with a ladies shafts to be RESHAFTED with a steel shaft. This is an old school bore thru that we used an old school tool that made short work of the job. Check it out.
Talk about a radical change.
We go over the old school technique to remove and refinish the Callaway head.

Thank you for sharing...I have bore thru clubs from Callaway and have recently changed from graphite to steel shafts...having the right tools and techniques would have been more pleasurable of a task for sure...

Great video. As for a suggestion, could you do a video on removal/reinstall of the adjustable tips so present in modern woods/drivers. I find safe removal of these very finicky and wondering if you have any good tips

They vary. For example, the newer Callaway tips are all metal and the rings cannot be removed. You just move them as far towards the butt as they will go and heat towards the tip end of the tip attachment. Golfworks has a kit with screws and a washer that makes the tips easier to remove - shown in one of the McGolf videos. Some older Callaway tips have a plastic piece that should be removed before heating and removal. Removing that plastic piece (twist off) allows removal of the adjustment ring. Obviously you put both the ring and tip back on after removing the tip and letting it cool.

I really like how informative the clips I have watched are. Thank You!! I have a Big Bertha Fusion Tour FT-3 it's not a bore through how do I go about getting the shaft centered correctly as it is not a snug fit ?? and where can I find the old style ferules?

Assuming the shaft is only slightly too small in diameter, add glass shafting beads to the epoxy mix. That thickens up the mix and the beads take up the little bit of extra space between the shaft and hosel. That automatically centers the shaft. If there is more excess room, use a brass shim. They are made for various size conversions.

Hi McGolf - One question, do you have to glue the shaft into the hosel and the pin into the end of the shaft both at the same time, whilst keeping every thing in line? If so, how do you hammer the pin in when the shaft is not set in the hosel?

you can glue at different times. I try to do that in most cases. If time does not permit then both. when putting it in initially the glue is still setting and can be readjusted if needed.

McGolf, i have Calloway Warbird 3 and 5 woods. Bought new and went from graphite to steel. Now many years later (old man swing speed) i want to go back to graphite. Is it possible? Love the heads will not part

Mark Seymour yes it is possible. I used to a lot of the warbirds in the day. I have company that sell Specific fairway wood shafts that are a good fit. If interested let me know
