Milo. This video lesson has literally saved my golfing life! The basketball analogy is literally mind blowing - never seen it anywhere else and the elbow to target is a game changer. I was a flip inside on the backswing and flop at impact and shanking was always there. Now, chipping and iron play is suddenly compressed and powerful. Maybe a whole video on basketball wrists/hands is needed.

Damn, this guy is like a mirror image of me, and we have the exact same handicap as well.. I went to a local pro for lessons, I have the same issue of sucking the club in on the takeaway , so that the club head is behind my hands before going parallel. I believe I acquired this due to trying to hit INSIDE the ball to combat a strong fade ( occasional slice). Since being so shallow, I’ve lost distance, and my miss was now a hook ( but it was so nice to finally get rid of that strong face). The pro gave me similar instructions , and wow do my strikes feel pure now. As I just learned this last week, of course I have some work to do, as this is totally a foreign feeling for me, but so far loving the results at the range.

I always wondered which way the elbows were to point, obviously the left needs to face the target as clarified in the video. Which direction should the right elbow face?? I used to think they both should go toward the body, example looking at the HOGAN book 5 fundamentals they look toward the body.

When I try this, I see the extra speed and it feels more like a natural flow. But my ball, after starting straight or slightly right, keeps curving and curving left and my 7 lands maybe 40yds left of target. I can't seem to stop that. I end up just swinging way out to the right so it curves back to the target

I would like to point out 2 issues with this valid swing model so people can make an intelligent decision whether they have what it takes to try this before they invest time and money. I think that's only fair. All models have pros and cons. Some cons are more serious than others and can ruin ones body to the point that you have to give up the game. I totally understand this pivot based, dead arms and hands swing, since I used it in the past and it worked great. For the long game especially, it requires a big turn and resistance between upper and lower body (x-factor, x-factor stretch). You also have to stay connected. Slack is the killer in this method since it is based on proper Kinematic Sequencing. The Kinetic Chain has to be tight or it would be like pulling a car with slack in the rope. So what are the 2 issues? You are using only 2 out of 4 power accumulators so you make up for that with great flexibility and the big turn as mentioned earlier. 16:43 "You can't hit it far if you don't get wound up". You also need a BULLETPROOF lower back. When you wind up and then unwind, the stress on the lower back is significant, especially during the transition when x-factor stretch kicks in. If you got flexibility and a bulletproof lower back then this is an accurate way to play that requires no timing of the release. Physics will do it for you. Back problems forced me give up on this model. But it is a very valid model.
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
You clearly do not understand my coachings as I teach how to use the hands and arms as much as anyone, it’s just not aligned with how some others coach their involvement. I’ll have to start adding two more power accumulators to help increase the distance of all the long hitters I coach 😂.
@TheNYgolfer Жыл бұрын
@@MiloLinesGolf If I "clearly don't understand" your coaching than it's because you clearly don't explain yourself well, and contradict yourself. In this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3qZeX-uotCrntk at the 4:14 mark, and beyond, you make it clear that the hands and arms are not actively helping to release the club. That they are "reactive to the body turn". Now you weren't talking about stage one of you teachings. At that point you were talking about the full swing. That is why I said it is a pivot controlled swing with passive arms and hands. Passive in that they don't actively/consciously "add" power. The release is automatic due to centrifugal/centripetal force. So if I got that wrong, and I'm totally misunderstanding your coaching, then please change the video and make your teachings clearer so no one else misunderstands you. Yes you teach how to "use the hands" to set the club on the backswing (setting the flying wedges) and to not "roll" them through impact, which is advocating "angled hinging". Excellent advice. Shout out to Homer Kelley of The Golfing Machine btw As for your somewhat sarcastic statement about adding 2 more accumulators to your power hitters , you totally misread my post. I said "You are using only 2 out of 4 power accumulators so you make up for that with great flexibility and the big turn". I didn't say you can't hit it far with 2 accumulators. Of course you can bomb the ball with 2 accumulators, but by your owns words 16:43 "You can't hit it far if you don't get wound up". You have to be very flexible to wind and unwind like that, and the stress on the back , especially during the transition, is seriously damaging over time. Which brings me back to the whole point of my original post. This massive winding and unwinding requires great flexibility and bullet proof lower back. 16:43 "You can't hit it far if you don't get wound up". It's a valid model, I'm not saying otherwise. It worked great for me until the back issue. It is a very accurate way to play. It's just not body friendly.
