I saw a Mark I Ford Fiesta the other day and whilst it doesn't have the charm of the Golf it does have a unique look that we don't see on UK roads anymore. I hope you enjoy the build, we will.

Nice Rabbit. Came here for the BMW content, stayed to enjoy the vw's even though it's an ff. I'm old enough to remember when these Rabbits where everywhere in the U.S.. My dad had the diesel rabbit truck, I learned to drive with it. back before we had to call them "Golf" I always preferred to call them Rabbits, so continue to do so to this day just to rib the young guys.

“I was kinda of afraid a lot of you would hate that car” Who on its own mind would hate a supercharged Mini, especially an early one designed by non other than Frank Stephenson? BTW, the only thing that really matters is whether you like or not since you are the one paying for it.

This engine is looking gorgeous, cant wait to hear it scream, but please dont start bolts or nuts with the drill/impact, start them by hand and then use the drill, otherwise you will end up stripping a bolt and spending hours on a 2 minute job.

I don't know why anyone would not like your videos. I love how the carbs look on that engine especially the trumpets absolutely beautiful. My question is and maybe I missed it. Why carbs over the CisE or Digifont fuel injection? Anyway it is coming along beautifully and I'm shocked you can get all these parts. You are giving me lots of ideas if my 8v 1.8 dies. Lol. Enjoy my friend. Always a pleasure. Prost!!

Beautiful engine! Be sure to pre-oil it before starting. It's been sitting for so long that the cam and crank bearing journals are probably dry. Buy a oil pump drive shaft pre-oiler, and use it where the distributor plugs in. Run it for 30-45 seconds - that should build pressure to oil the cam and crank journals. Then reinstall the distributor and then attempt to start it. Cheers!

Looking great man! Love the build! Don't forget to use a actual torque wrench and not that calibrated bicep! I worry about your oil cooler clocking. Hope you figured it out before you got too deep into the build. Make sure you put washers behind every nut, need that hold pressure evenly distributed across the surface.

This build is looking good! According to what I have researched about 2.0 engines some years ago, I think that timing covers from a MK3 GTi engine code "2E" will suit this engine perfectly, since both are the so-called long block. If you find some of these cars at junkyard take them and try, they should fit!

Your cam cover might not be fitting as you need to rotate the cam tensioner the other way (clockwise). Common mistake as its more obvious to tension it anticlockwise like at 5:34.
