thank you PJ I have changed this fuel pump once 5 years ago (I use topran brand ) and drive the car daily it s working properly . I m surprised that there's low quality pump out here for me using topran spare parts in all car and never ran with any problems .

As a matter of interest. I have a 1.6 Golf Chico. The fuel pump packed up, so I replaced it, however be careful when you buy the pump that it is the CORRECT one for your model. I advise taking the old pump with you as there are several pumps that look the same, BUT the location of the actuation lever on the pump is different for various models. I bought a VIKA pump and so far so good.

Yes good point ..even the quality of the actuator and spring mechanism I have seen real cheap shoddy quality.,In one case I've seen the actuator break off .. And ,My Vika pump still going strong now almost 2 years

Mine was giving me same problems. I went on to change fuel vapour separater, fuel filter and open the seats to check if the tank is clean, Then I realised the tongue on the fuel pump does not make enough conduct to push more fuel and I decided to put the new that was better at it was all good.

Hi sir I need advice please I changed pump ..module...coil ..fuel separator tank on MK1 golf 1992 car idles but as driving it dies after a while I did this test and saw both pumps pumps slow weak like your old pump did ..can I rather buy a more expensive one ? or can I fit a universal electric one? please

Great information PJ, I just call goldwagen they got two brands of mechanical fuel pumps which is Mayla and WAG. I'm not sure which one is the right one cos they don't have VIKA. Please advice

Mayla is a good brand. Even better,.. I think it's bit more expensive.. Take that one

Hey there.Thank you., and Yes you can fit an electric fuel pump... As long as it works OK, and doesn't produce too much fuel pressure.. I have always believed in using a good quality mechanical fuel pump on a carb engine.. Bad Quality mechanical pumps are bad news and will cause issues with performance, jerking, due to fuel starvation.. I have actually done a video on the issue of bad quality mechanical Fuel pumps which people are fitting onto their cars

Hi uncle Pj. I have golf mk1 2006 fuel injector. I bought beand new pump in march. My car struggles to start in the morning, struggles to accelerate under load, and it stalls. The fuel pump makes noises that get louder and louder and then the car stalls when it was idling. I changed fuel filter as well. What could be the problem as the fuel pump also feels hot?

Hi pj I sourced a fuel pump from goldwagen and when I started the car with the coil plug out no fuel was coming out of my fuel pump cable runing to the carburetor I blew into the fuel filter and I heard bubbles into the tank though is it normally easy to blow into the tank or do you have to blow really hard to hear those bubbles

No you don't have to blow awfuly hard.. And u will hear the bubbles. Did u try sucking up the fuel to see if it comes through to filter

@@pjs-golfmk1-diy looks like I have a fuel problem then because I had to blow hard to hear the fuel in the tank where you fill up petrol. I will try that tomorrow assuming if it’s hard to come out then I need a new part that goes into the tank

Could be valve stem seals. Oil rings.. Best to have it checked by a mechanic or person who has experience with the mk1

Yes.. But there are still some good brands available... Its just that there's been such a lot of bad pirate pumps on the market.. And sad part these spares shops charge almost same price as a good quality one...so one has to do ones research, and enquiries when buying.

Should these fuel pumps use a gasket? I replaced the fuel pump with an "OSSA" brand that I had to buy in an emergency and it came with a green fibre washer.

Hi there yes some come with gasket and 2 o rings ..but I also use a bit of victor rheinze sealer against the block side

Morning pj I just did my carburetor and sent it for a whole rebuild kit it’s an original ks2 kehien carburetor. How come I cannot pass 5000 rpm before I could reach 7000rpm when I have those days I just want to drive like that but now I cannot pass 5000rpm and it like stops sending fuel untill I change gear

Have you done a check on the fuel delivery from the fuel pump.. To see how strong or weak it's pumping

@@pjs-golfmk1-diy no I didn’t when my carburetor was over fueling at that time when I wanted to drive hard to 7000rpm I would get it now I played with the fuel screw but I still can’t get it to go to 7000rpm so I was assuming mybe how the carburetor was set up
