GOLF MK1. OIL LIGHT/ BUZZER ISSUE (Some Tips)

I recently replaced the sensor on the oil filter (it was damp), at the same time I replaced the head sensor too. the fun began ! I eventually put the old sensors back, and the oil light stayed off. I have a gauge, so I know the oil pressure was good, always. At the end of the day the sensor on the head (the new one) was faulty ! There is no guarantee with a light on a dash and the oil pressure gauge saved my bacon ! BTW I also have a volt meter so I know if the alternator is charging and I can see battery condition.

But my MK1 beep that oil light when my fuel is quarter empty... And if my fuel is more the sound beep doesn't appear until it reaches quarter empty fuel

Morning I got VW golf 3 they overall enjin but my oil light is coming on they didn't replace the oil pump and the cluster is making a noise I put new oil pump but it's still making noise

Hi I got VW golf 3 1.8 I overall engen and they didn't replace oil pump and my oil bazzer is making noise I replaced oil pump but it makes the same thing what can it be

Hi good day pj I have a problem with my mk1,it was standing more then a month due to i didn't have money for a new battery,so I got a new battery now,so the car didn't want to start it I lying crank,so we trough petrol down the carburetor and it started,so the next day I stArt it with no problems,but the 3rd day the car only crank no start,I tried throwing petrol in the carburetor again but still the car don't want to start,now the car is just cranking,what can the problem be please help,thank you

I drive an old vw Polo classic 1.4i. The oil light and buzzer came on and the car started to over heat quickly. What could the problem be and how do I fix it? I checked the oil and it is full but the oil light flashers without the buzzer all the time when driving over 2000rev. But the heat gauge climbs quickly and over heats badly

Hello sir my car is always doing things like that for everyday when I reach 100 when I'm driving is indicates that light for oil so I failed to understand what's going on I have been going to some mechanic and ask what's going on here they don't see any problem

Got a 1.3 chico with 1.4i harness... I have like 5 or 6 wires comes out of that section u cable tied on this vid for the sensors... I dont know how to track the correct wires

My Mk2..I replaced both sensors..but at normal operation temperature I am getting oil buzzer at more than 2000rpm when driving..but when rev it it doesn't..and then when idling also there is an oil light blinking

Hi. If you have already replaced the sensors and still getting oil buzzer, it could mean actual low oil pressure due to your oil pump maybe packing up, or it could be the oil pick up is just bit clogged up with sludge,. And to solve that u need to take off the sump and do an inspection, and clean out the sump. What grade of oil you using?.. Using too thin oil also causes oil buzzer to come on.

Did u ever try 20w 50 helix? . It's recommended by vw. Good oil. I've used it for many years

Those sensors have certain colours.....all pressure related..... make sure you exchange with the same colour

I have the problem of tappets making a hell of a noise and does not go away oil light flashes etc. This is after oil pump was replaced and new oil and filter added…. What now? No leaks whatsoever

Hi ,have you checked on the fuze yet?..check the fuze layout, and number ,on the fuze chart .,which is in the cubby hole /glove box

I replace my oil pump in Sept and now in Nov i am having that same problem (bleeping oil light).I am bit confused by it.Its not everyday that the warning light is coming on.

Have u replaced the sensors. On the side of cylinder head and the one on the oil filter housing?

you do no there are different oil pumps? and have you replaced the sensor? these sensors also can be faulty when new. what also could be the issue is thin crank bearings they then lower oil pressure on the high and low sides.

Yes, you can do an oil pressure test, with an oil pressure gauge. Just ask your mechanic

When last did u change the oil filter?... Sometimes it gets clogged up with sludge and you have a drop in oil pressure ,... Or a bad quality oil filter also causes that.. Also the oil pick up can get clogged up due to sludge in sump.. Always good to open up the sump from time to time to inspect..

@@pjs-golfmk1-diy I service the car every 10000km wiyh gud filters and 5w40 oil there's no funny sounds the car still runs fine / strong its just the light and buzzing sound

It's very difficult to say. It could be a number of reasons.. Check fuel pump, filter, carb,.. Could be blocked fuel lines from tank side.. Its best to have it assessed by a mechanic...

As long as the engine sounds nice and quiet,...and not a rough tappet sound ,you don't have to worry . Check on the oil pressure switches.,which is usually found on top of the oil filter ..,and one on the side of cylinder head.These sensors can also cause your oil light and buzzer to go on if they faulty.. These oil pressure switches are not expensive ..If yours are very old and been on the engine very long replace them..It may just solve the problem.You can get these at Goldwagen spares
