Golf MK2 1.8t Swap | First Test Drive | Pt.12

I finally get to test drive the MK2 1.8t build for the first time. The alignment is terrible but with the last nice day for awhile I had to get it done. Lot's of things going on with first test drive of a car. Watching, Listening, feeling for different things, it's stressful and fun at the same time.

you can put the low pressure oil sensor above the oil filter and put de wiring to it from the fusebox. Nice work by the way.love the watch your movies

Also? There is a Chevy T-Stat that fits the AWP engine. It opens at 160 rather than stock 190 or ‘race’ 190. I use it in my Bt mk4 1.8t. Might be worth a shot with the addition of a thermostatic mixing plate and an external oil cooler.

Stage 2 fans only come on in usual conditions IF ac is activated. Under normal circumstances, only fan stage 1 will kick on.

Hey man, great to see this thing all up together and driving finally. I have had a few Mk2 1.8ts now and in regards to your vaccum hoses on the inlet, I have used the elbow just after the TB (that you have blanked off) to run straight to my boost gauge inside, then I looped the pipes underneath the manifold... Hope this helps bro 🤙🏼

That metal pipe on the throttlebody looks too close/ touching the radiator 04:30. Was thinking with the engine movement could cause a leak in the rad mate. I would cut an inch off the pipe to give yourself some room.

Which do you like better mk2 1.8t or vr? I'm thinking of building a 1.8t mk2 for handling. My mk2 vrt is the scariest thing.

Yep the sound is pretty much gone. The sound in the video is an exhaust leak. I've been putting off buying the correct downpipe and exhaust cause it cost so much.

Hey Jake! I also am working on the same swap and my motor sounds like yours. When it’s cold (first start) it’s quiet as hell but after some time it starts to sound like yours. Is it because the chain isn’t perfectly on time? chain tensioner? Or is it just ok? Learning a lot from you, thanks!

I felt the same many times. I made small goals to get at least one thing done a day. But yes it will be worth it. As I get it more dialed in I feel myself getting more and more excited.

Yeah I got an awp and o2j with 95k out of a wrecked mk4 for it. One of my rain gutters is bad, haven't been able to find one. And I'm in commiefornia, used to be able to pay someone couple hundred bucks to pass emissions here, last people i know had to pay $600 just to get a tag, and they shut that guy down so getting it tagged on the street basically impossible now as far as I know.

It’s ok. I’m just using the mk4 1.8t sensor with the stock mk2 cluster right now. But I might put in the mk3 cluster. Not sure yet
