This is a great watch, I'm planning on doing similar work but not quite as extensive. Just poly bushes, new drop links and ball joints. Glad I seen this so I'm not gonna be surprised about getting the gearbox out the way for that control arm though. Bet it feels absolutely solid to drive now!
@ZakiGarage Жыл бұрын
Thx 🙏glad you enjoy it. Yeah, the control arm bolts were a real surprise for me the first time, took me weeks stuck on them. It drives a lot better now and feels solid but unfortunately when to a bad alignment shop, and still haven't had time to go get a better alignment. And still have more suspension parts planned for it in the future.

You could probably aline the wheels better yourself - if you can do this job wheel alignment should be easy for you...

@Kellier1916 you're probably right, will have to give the alignment a try next time 👍🏻. Wish I had thought of the pin cleaning before, been wasting so much time and effort cleaning them manually in the past

The old front control arm is made of die-cast material. Have the new ones noticed the steel driving feel or steering clarity?

why did the axel need a special tool to pull out? shouldnt they just pull out with relative ease?

Sometimes axles will come out easily with a few hammer hits. A lot of times they are really stuck in there and would never come out

Welches Golf V Modell ist es? GT Sport oder GTI? Gibt es einen Link zu dem Kompletten Reperatursatz? Suche schon lange ein vernünftiges Video zum Austausch. Endlich habe ich eins gefunden, Danke.
@ZakiGarage3 ай бұрын
Its not a GT Sport nor GTI. Just Golf with a 1.6L engine. This was not a complete repair kit, I had to choose the parts one by one. But I have the parts listed in the vid description. Carful not all Golfs share the same parts, always check parts with your vin number.

Great vid! Can i ask why you only changed the hub & driveshaft on one side?
@ZakiGarage Жыл бұрын
Thx, changed the whole steering knuckle on the left side since one of the bolt holes for the caliper was stripped. The steering knuckle came as a kit with a new hub so replaced it all. Also, changed the axle on the left side since the boot on it was cracked and leaked the grease all over the left side. The axle on the right side looked good at the beginning but I think I'll replace it too in the future after seeing its condition. Reason for changing only the hub on the right side is a stripped wheel bolt hole.

Will be doing this same thing to my mk4 jetta vr6 both front and rear suspension with rear axle beam included... how much would it cost at a mechanic
@ZakiGarage2 жыл бұрын
This project cost me around 1400$ in parts, shipping, and the few extra tools I had to buy. For labor you'll need to add up all the individual fixes hour rates, and multiply it by your area's mechanics rates, and it would be a lot i'm guessing

Instead of wasting time doing all this. Go to your breakers and find a B6 Passat and take the entire front aluminum LA assembly.

Breakers are very bad in my country and will charge more than new parts. And forget about finding VW cars since they are not popular here.
