I've recently learned that the concept of the head moving in the direction of the swing is called, "The heavy head."

Could you help me to let me know where do I can find it ? Or related the product to train your drill? Thanks HR: email : hlu@telenet.be

What a great explanation of the head and pelvis movement. I am one of those that my head is way out in front and my follow thru does feel like my arms have ran out of room. I will surely need to work with a weight on the shaft. Thanks for the channel. High handicappers like me need all the help we can get.
@davidmcnamara3243 Жыл бұрын
This is gold. The reason you only swing to that point : 18inches in front of the ball, is to allow the arms and hands to decelerate into the divot. This deceleration of the arms allows the clubhead to speed up. The faster the arms travel, the slower the clubhead moves!
@HolyGrailOfGolf Жыл бұрын
Well kinda. Exactly why and how are not that important but simply understanding the concept will improve your clubhead speed tremendously. It sounds like you've got it.

It's crazy what the golf club can do when used properly. I'm happy to hear that I've done another person good! How 'bout a tip? www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=D9KLSZE47S8AY People pay hundreds for a new driver or irons and hundreds more on DVDs and lessons that do them little or no good. I have truly simplified the swing to the point of almost near ridiculousness and it's transforming people's golf games. This is my only source of income these days as the company I worked for has gone under. My wife keeps saying to me, "Why are you just giving it away for free? You're wasting your time!" All of the several explanatory videos so far are rare examples of something Ben Hogan said about golf instruction - that too many instructors describe in great length what a good golf swing looks like, which is a bit like teaching a toddler, who is trying to learn how to open a door, by describing what an open door looks like after it has been successfully opened, when what would actually help is teaching the toddler first how to turn a door knob. So, congratulations for finding one major door knob to the golf swing and showing us how to turn it. I went outside to my backyard range net with my driver and absolutely smashed the ball four times in a row in the center of the clubface. That's a good start. Also, I think this technique will help my brother get back into the game of golf, which he had given up years ago due to the "full body yips." Because the thing that is being taught here is something for us to actively "do" and we can "do it" fairly hard, "effort-wise", it is something that can be learned fairly quickly, and hopefully mastered fairly quickly. We shall see in terms of my own game. I'm 56 years old, with a 12 handicap. I intend to deploy this fairly quickly on the golf course and shall report back anything significantly positive. One more thing. On one of these videos (I forget exactly which one) it is shown that this move is very active with the body and hands and arms, especially the right (trail) arm, when making the holy grail move downward and outward with the club shaft. He then mentions, almost in passing, in one of the captions, that this is not an instruction to "let the arms fall" or to "let the club fall" from the top of the back swing. What a relief! I am so tired of that advice, which is nearly universal in golf swing instruction, even with many instructors in whom I have great respect otherwise.

Thank you. The more I think about it the easier and simpler it gets. I can't believe how people have complicated this simple move. I never heard that about Hogan but it makes sense.

@HolyGrailOfGolf3 жыл бұрын
I purposely don't show myself hitting many balls because it's not about me, it's about you. I'm trying to convey ideas that change the perception of what it is to strike a golf ball and I don't want people imitating me. I want them to think on their own and truly change without attempting imitation which most people are doing after watching a PGA golf tournament. PGA tour players are elite and flexible athletes and most of us simply can't do what they do but that doesn't mean we can't play golf well.

Jack’s first move initiates his swing by turning head away from the ball. I also started using a small broom as a swing aid with proper grip and full swings, right shoulder pointing at the target. I’m 62 and have developed serious club head speed and better balance. I’ve lately applied a “low, slow and go” takeaway technique and shot 7 over 2 weeks ago after not playing for 6 weeks.

re the head, i have some books from the early 70's by Mr X, he was a middle aged englishman who looked at and analyzed the pro's of his time Nicklaus, etc, golf monthly in those times published his articles and he became something of a cultish figure, one thing he noted was what he called 'the Heavy head' basically describing what you are describing and seen in your Cameron champ vis, he used some photos of the pros and they were all doing it with their heads to some degree, very interesting features sir. cheers ps using his own analysis he turned himself into a scratch player from mid handicapper !!

The heavy head isn't intentional it's an effect of proper intention. You shouldn't be trying to make it happen, it should just happen. It's all about the direction you send your force. Your head will always move in the direction of your intended force.

I found your channel long ago and have always enjoyed the content. Recently, I was surfing KZbin trying to find some validation for idea #28719913 I've had about my swing. Found the holy grail, and realized you'd found it and did a great job explaining what I was trying to figure out. In regards to the head movement, I feel it's this: the golf swing is universally recognized as down, out and forward. What isn't taught, is that down and out are the only forces actively applied. Forward happens. Any effort actively forward throws it off, making me hook the ball. Great work! Im a fan. -Alan

@@HolyGrailOfGolf "swing to the finish" or "you want the most speed after the ball" now strike me as two of the most damaging mantras of my past 40 years. Back surgery, pain and a game that changed with the weather were the result. I shot 67 this weekend at North Creek (Southaven, MS) doing nothing but swinging straight out in front of me, 90 degrees to the target. It is so easy, I kept waiting for it to betray me. Instead, it kept getting easier. Again, bravo!

@@speedofsoundllc Yes! The idea of speed after impact is not only stupid it's also almost impossible to get any sort of consistency. Where in front of the ball? How far? When do I ever stop swinging? It's nuts! 67? On a regulation par 72?

Paul Goydos is a guy who really does that last part you talk about nicely. The club is barely moving by the time he is finishing his follow through. Prior to hurting your knee how was it going? I imagine it was going well and you started to see just how far you can hit it and that's when you got hurt. We all have a natural speed that we move. The head will move opposite to the direction not towards it. If your club goes in the head will tend to move out towards the ball. If your club swings out, your head will tend to move away from the ball. COG will be maintained or you will fall on your ass or face,.
@HolyGrailOfGolf4 жыл бұрын
That's the common thought but simply not true. Even though the arms and club are way past the direction of force by the time the head moves, the intent still drives the head in that direction. What you're advocating is opposing the force with an offset of weight in the opposite direction. We know this isn't true as we lean toward the direction we're swinging in any sport. People actually do what you're advocating and it's detrimental to a good golf swing. They do it because they're thinking of themselves standing up straight. In a golf swing we're bent forward and the inertia of the arms and club will pull us up and around, we don't need to do it with an offset of our COG.
