Remind me a lot of myself with my golf sim, figure it out as you go. Been making tiny changes daily as I find tiny issues throughout. Love the real life captured in this video haha

awesome! Im an engineer, lawn nut, and golf sim guy as well. I use the mevo +

Thanks for checking in! I knew there had to be a few other people out there with similar interests and even education =). How are you liking the memo + indoors? If I hadn't found a used SkyTrak I was considering the mevo +, I like how it sits behind out of the way.

Have you thought of attaching small magnets to the floor and bottom of the screen for stability/stretching of the screen?
@TheLawnEngineer2 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I did try using magnets as weights at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately, they were not able to withstand the impact from full swings.

I'm not handy at all. Do you think your set up could work with a wider screen, lets say i I want 12 ft wide screen. would it work and how di you figure out the hand crank stuff? I also need way more side netting than you do.
@TheLawnEngineer22 күн бұрын
Yes, a similar setup could work with a 12ft wide screen. You could go with a larger diameter pipe to reduce deflection, but it’s likely not necessary. I pieced the handle crank stuff together from parts at a local farm supply store. I hade to do some welding to make it work so it’s likely not practical for everyone.

What size or tooth # sprockets did you use with chain system? Will any size work, or is there a recommended ratio? I’d to attempt a simular build, so any information would be helpful. Great videos
@TheLawnEngineer2 жыл бұрын
I talk about the chain and sprockets in episode one at 9:30. It’s #50 chain close to a 1:1 ratio. The chain size is way overkill but I figured it would be more forgiving on misalignment and such. Good luck 👍, have fun with it.

Great idea with rolling screen. What size screen did you purchase?

Thanks, I went with 110” x 110”

I am jealous! Nice heating area. How tall are your ceilings?
@TheLawnEngineer2 жыл бұрын
10.5 ft ceiling height. It is working out pretty well 👍

Do you have any recommendations for hardware that can be used to enable the bar to spin? Something robust enough to withstand the weight. The bar you converted over from your golf net worked perfectly (looking for something like that). Also, how did you connect the top of the screen to the bar? Great video, it was extremely helpful.
@TheLawnEngineer2 жыл бұрын
I would use some pillow block bearings like these: PGN - UCP205-16 Pillow Block Mounted Ball Bearing - 1" Bore - Solid Cast Iron Base - Self Aligning (2 Pack) www.amazon.com/dp/B07MWGF35D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_J37SZDQZH8YKPKMT7NK6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Just make sure that the bearing bore matches the bar you go with. For the bar, I’d recommend the steel-tek bars at lowes, then you don’t have to deal with threads. I taped the screen to the bar with duct tape. Thanks for checking in, good luck with your build!

I'm going to model my own after this. Are you having any issues with fraying on the unfinished edges of your screen?
@TheLawnEngineer2 жыл бұрын
No issues with the unfinished edges fraying. The screen is holding up well.

How far away is your impact screen from the wall?

14 inches

Was that screen worth it? For a guy who drives 330 how many impacts do you think if will take before if becomes confetti?
@TheLawnEngineer2 жыл бұрын
I did have some damage at the end of the weight bar which I detail in episode 5. This damage was really my fault because I left the ends of the weight bar pretty sharp. I am really amazed how the screen itself absorbs impact so it should work for you just fine. I was tempted with some options on Amazon but my friend had this exact screen and it was working well for him.

Hello, what tape did you use to keep the screen attached to the bar permanently? I have used 'strong' masking tape and it doesn't work... it doesn't stick to the fabric well enough.
@TheLawnEngineer2 жыл бұрын
I used 3M duct tape. I also positioned the bar to have to still have a full wrap when the screen is touching the ground. Keeping one wrap on the bar takes most of the force off of the tape.

Great thanks for the quick response. Have you had any issues with the sides of the screen fraying as you bought it unfinished.
@TheLawnEngineer2 жыл бұрын
@@jordansalisbury1126 you’re welcome. No, the sides of the screen are holding up well I don’t see any fraying.

Ok great. Sorry, I am having some troubles with the tape I am using is why I ask haha. Any chance you could put a link to the tape you used? Thanks
