How can anyone complain about golf getting involved with the Saudi’s? You put petrol in your car, you give them money… you holiday in the country, you pay them money… you watch soccer, horse racing, boxing, powerboat racing, rallying, etc etc you pay them money, it’s been accepted for years and now you want to criticise golfers for doing it? Get real, kick your egos into touch and grow up! Oh, and the PGA are no angles!

That's an acute observation, this is a reflex reaction by the PGA, which often acts obtusely. They need to take the right angle on this issue.

Liv was said to be successful in Hong Kong last week. What I learned is that they used the social influencers and celebrities to persuade people to the event. The ticket can be used to redeem for a lot of merchandises.

You are all a bunch of turkeys Liv is bringing golf to the world. How exciting was Hong Kong last week both the team and the individual were not decided until the very last hole. Best GOLF I’ve watched in many years. Great quality commentary. You see every shot. And can watch GOLF on KZbin for free. PGA Tour has had a monopoly over the years. Great to see live Stir the pot.

Private Equity doesn't mean equality it means ownership. There will be no deal with PIF unless LIV gets OWGR points. The PIF will use their funds to lure more players away from the PGA T.

I agree with Paul McGinley - 'turkeys don't vote for Christmas'. My concern is that the players on the PGA Tour Board can get in the way of a deal with PIF and the potential for a world tour. Suits the likes of Cantlay to play almost all his tournaments in the US and it's easier not to have to compete vs the LIV guys. They're even being financially compensated for not going to LIV. It would be a great watch if you could have PGA Tour and LIV players on the same tour playing in different parts of the world but it's probably a dream.

I watched this on tv. Paul made it sound like LIv paid hong Kong but Hong Kong actually paid Liv rather well. Not sure who paid the course but Liv made a lot of money just to play in Hong Kong.

As a dad of two accomplished junior golfers who are both going to play power 5 D1 golf, we are friends with 30-50 similar friends/families. In the past 11 years we have never ONCE talked about the charity of the PGA Tour. Golf Channel keeps harping on the charitable contributions of the pga tour. The typical viewer does not care about this. Period. But we have absolutely spoken about the fact we record every round of televised PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events - and many of us haven’t watched a single round of PGA Tour this year. You wanna know what interests us? The best players playing against the best players.( Rich, we want Rory vs Rahm…). We don’t care about LIV; and you are learning that we also don’t care about the tour - we’ll just watch the highlight reel on KZbin. I love Brandel’s commentary. I love his conviction. But I hope Jay’s parachute includes a safety strap for Brandel.

Everyone keeps harping on "but LIVs viewer ratings are abysmal". Based on what and measured how? Ratings for PGA is determined by a sample of viewer stats that are tracked based on Cable TV and other commercialised viewing packages. LIV doesnt have an official broadcaster or at least not in the form of a major sports network. So firstly you have nothing to track. Secondly LIV is mostly streamed over its own app and youtube which is not tracked the same way. People can log in and watch at different times and also watch the stream at their own time. Thirdly, a big portion of viewers would have off market streaming services that certainly are not tracked. So the viewing comparison is like comparing apples and oranges.

I agree. Everyone keeps bringing up these metrics but in reality I don't think LIV actually cares about the tv deal nowhere near how the PGA tour does. The PGA tour needs it's TV broadcast to survive. It's so tied up into the sponsors through TV, that they have to show commercials every 5 minutes. Why are we comparing this data in the first place? LIV is succeeding without a major TV deal and that is a scary proposition. If and when they do get one, the PGA tour will struggle to compete even more.

It has nothing to do with ticket sales . You have to get people to watch for 5 hours for 4 days. Not going to happen anymore.

The only thing that's going to get the fans engaged is LIV vs PGA, majors and Ryder Cup the rest is just for the diehards. KZbin is the real competition that both LIV and the PGA have when it comes to the fans.

Money money money. “The future of the game” I think you are referring to the future of the professional game not the game in general. Golf is a sport enjoyed by all. Beginners, seasoned club players and most professional golfers enjoy playing the game. If professional golf continues to let absurd amounts of money be the main focus then there will always be indecision and the sport will fragment and suffer as a consequence. I don’t begrudge people making a decent living but how much MONEY do people want. Greed is too rife in the world and causing problems in every walk of life these days.

Let's get real and look at this PGA product. It's just not interesting especially now that so many personalities have left. Then this business with the OWGR. What a joke that is. Nobody knows who the top 20 golfers in the world are anymore and we have some of the best players on the planet unable to play in the majors unless they qualify. It's a complete mess. Why would sponsors want to bankroll 20m dollar events that nobody is interested in? Where are the grown ups in the room? I can put a model together right now. It's not rocket science - world's top 75 players play in 30 tournaments including the majors on a world tour with a Middle Eastern, Australasian, US and European swing. No cuts but promotion and relegation of the bottom 12 players and top 12 players from the rump PGA/DP/tours at the end of the season. Meanwhile top 8 players qualify for knockout matchplay tournament for ridiculous cash - quarters, semis and final to decide the real 'champion golfer of the year' and number 1 player in the world. Just off the top of my head that sort of pyramid structure gives real meaning to fans and also properly defines a golf season of 40 odd weeks. Meanwhile golf gets a proper opportunity to grow globally and meet fans in countries other then the United States.

LIV has all the best players except scheffler. They win. But americans dont care enough about watching golf to watch LIV and feel icky about ourselves. Will the next generation even watch golf, except for gambling, when they can watch youtube golf for a more entertaining golf fix?
