As an old man with balance issues, the mini driver has changed my life. The regular driver was too long to use before my balance issue came into effect. The mini driver changes all of that. I am back in the game.

I'm the same as you except I've got essential tremors, I just went out and bought an old callaway driver and shorten the shaft.

@johnmartin8528 24 күн бұрын
@@petersmith9470 I tried this, but found out that when you shortened the shaft, it gets stiffer. Plus I needed the added extra loft of 13 1/2+ degrees on the mini driver to help get the ball in the air. You can’t get that kind of loft on regular drivers. Good luck.

Mini driver, technically been around for donkeys years. 2 woods were very popular late 70s early to mid 80s. Can just imagine some of the 3D printed clubs, 😂 going to be lots of jobs at R&A and USGA technical departments to get out and test clubs before some tournaments.

One of the here to stays led me to one of the others.. the golf pride reverse taper grip just didn’t work for me and I felt mostly because it’s the worst feeling compound in any grip I’ve felt in ages, however this grip (not improving my putting) led me to try the LAB DF3 and purchasing the counter balanced version 💥💥

One thing people don't understand about 3D printing is the difference between hobbyist plastic extrusion printers and metallic SLS printers. Yes it's true you could have a few hundred pound printer in your garage and print a plastic golf club head but this is miles away from having a metal 3d printer which cost in the regions of £100,000+ to print functional golf clubs with

1 - mini driver is a player/course dependant club. More versatile than 3 wood and driver. 2 - reverse taper grips I like. Got one on my old DA’62 Ghost and it’s amazing. 3 - fill face grooves need to remain on wedges a bit longer.

Tried a LAB putter, first time out with it hardly missed a single putt, after that round I was rubbish with it. Kept going with it for 8 or so more rounds and no luck, went back to a small toe hang putter and no regrets

@@drewl4921 could be because you are so use to having something pulling the face open or shut that your muscle memory is just ingrained for that feel as you make your stroke. I reckon it's why alot of pros can't or won't change lie angle balanced...they've grown up using toe hang etc with 1000s of hours of muscle memory built up. I've used the link but now the df3 and I think it's superior to the link honestly. Even though I can use both head shapes. The feel is better off the df3 in my opinion and it's easier to line up and roll. But that's just me

With the mini driver are you still meant to hit up on the ball like a driver or down angle of attack like a 3 wood?
@hadesignite
@hadesignite 24 күн бұрын
whatever works for you! Personally I don't hit up with a driver or my 2 wood. If consistency is the biggest issue for an amateur golfer, why have a different swing for the driver than all other clubs? Just have to get fit properly to make it work. (don't forget the average AOA on tour is negative).

Anyone who hasnt tried a LAB should give them a shot. I think they are pretty special and the science behind it all checks out. The main sticking point for the average punter is you get the best result by fitting for them, even though you can kind of get standard lie "off the shelf" models.
@hadesignite
@hadesignite 24 күн бұрын
agree but don't think this video does the tech justice. To say a toe up putter is a lie angle balanced putter is wrong. The clue is in the name, lie angle balanced. It means that when at the address position (lie angle) it has no specific bias.
@tezzlacoilz
@tezzlacoilz 24 күн бұрын
@@hadesignite yep exactly. It's like people saying a face balanced putter is a good putter for straight back and thru when in fact its the total opposite. It's balanced when the putter face is pointed up at the sky which means it's not balanced when it's pointing anywhere else... It's actually insane 😂
@hadesignite
@hadesignite 24 күн бұрын
@@tezzlacoilz agreed, I used to use face balance before I made my own low torque putter. It's not quite a LAB but technically not far off and gains a lot of the benefit but just not quite all!

Nice one Joe. Tried the reverse taper and it works for me. Mini driver? Shirley you just grip way down the driver shaft. Grooves all the way for amateurs? How did that take so long to figure out? I plain don’t like mallets, I prefer blades - you still need to work out the line and length even if the putter likes to face perpendicular to the path.
@tezzlacoilz
@tezzlacoilz 25 күн бұрын
Of course you still need to figure out line and length - even if the putter doesn't try to open or close to the path, you still need to aim and hit the ball lol. If it did that all for you what would be the point of playing golf 😂 btw lab also make a blade version and different types of mallets
@hadesignite
@hadesignite 24 күн бұрын
the point for the putter is that it removes a variable. You are correct in that you need to read the green but the lab putters stay square so don't need to be timed to ensure the face is square when you hit the ball like you do have to with anything that has rotational bias. It makes it easier to focus on the line and length of the putt...

@@hadesignite Thanks for input! I get it and understand people want to get results easier and put hope in new gear, have quick fixes or simply have a change. Only point is I think many can get better results from practice and training, same way we learn to do other things. And probably cheaper too. If we want to be a better guitar player, a new expensive guitar strap probably won’t have much impact.
@svk_5104

@@hadesignite I think you missed the point being made here. Golf clubs and equipment can only do so much help and eventually those golfers need to realize, they’re only way of getting better is to practice or get a couple of lessons. Every year people get fooled into thinking the new clubs a company puts out are SOOO much better then the models they put out 1-4 years ago and they’re really not. For example, if you hit a slice or a hook with a ping G425 driver, going and getting a ping 430 isn’t gonna transform your driving and make you better, you’ll still be hitting a hook or a slice.
@hadesignite
@hadesignite 9 күн бұрын
@@svk_5104 didn’t miss the point at all, at what point did I say anything contry to what you’ve just written? Well fitted clubs will always outperform anything off the rack regardless of year. New tech is always proving to be more forgiving as spot spot hits from clubs 15 years ago will perform the same as modern day. If people want to spend their money in search of forgiveness then who are you or anyone else to say they can’t or shouldn’t?!
@svk_5104
@svk_5104 9 күн бұрын
@@hadesignite I’m not saying they shouldn’t spend their money looking for forgiveness because they should. I’m saying they shouldn’t get fooled into thinking that the new models that come out every year are better than models 1-4ish years older. My brother fell into that trap for a few years and every year he got a new driver thinking that model was gonna be the one to fix his driving because it was said to be better and more forgiving then last years. He finally woke up and just got a couple lessons and he stopped buying new drivers every year. Once you have top of the line equipment and the most forgiving clubs, the only way to improve after that is to practice and/or lessons. If a 20 handicap golfer upgrades and gets fitted for to the most forgiving and best clubs for their game, they will see their handicap drop a few points but after that, they will stop getting better and getting new clubs each year will not change that.

All fads or trends that will not be around in years to come. 1. Mini driver: 2 Wood 2. Lie balance putter: Not helpful if can't read greens 3. Reverse taper grip: More gimmick, you won't see Scotty Cameron throwing these on. 4. Full face grooves: Who cares, beginner clubs only 5. 3D printed irons: Agree, won't lower prices just different way to make a club. All above are to get consumers to buy more...want a lower handicap...find a good pro and get lessons. Practice & more practice.

What a terrible take. 2-5 are technological advancements and a mini driver is just another graduation of club to sit between a driver and 3 wood, no different that a 6 iron sitting between a 5 & 7. You carry on with your 1980's blades and shooting in the mid 90s, even the pros see the value in this tech, god only knows why you're too blind to see it.
