I highly recommend buying a ball grabber which I use on my putter so I never have to bend over when the ball is in the hole on the green- this is also great for picking up balls out of bounds like in thorny bush areas or in case a snake gets pissed at you so your hands are safe ..$10 at your local golf shop or on line and it just screws in on the putter grip...

How do I clean the algae stained balls? At the creek I go to there is a golf course farther upstream and they all drift down and get caught in “catch spots” along it. However hard I clean they won’t get clean. Any tips?

You need a mechanical trash picker uper thing from Harbor Freight and some welders or rattle snake wranglers gloves and some snake proof boots and pants . Even a trashcan full of golfballs isn't worth a rattlesnake bite . The American healthcare system is so screwed up to begin with . No telling what that would cost . Remember the bee sting remedy thing a while back ?
