You can find them at Dick’s Sporting Goods two dozen for $70 or four dozen for $120. One box is $40. They also carry the Tour and Tour S which are 3 piece balls. Haven’t tried those yet but they have different trajectories, feel and spin rates as I’ve read.

I just bought 3 dozen Wilson Staff Tour Yellow for around £76 ie about £2 per ball- that's what makes it a winner or me. I normally play PRO V1 yellow which is an awesome golf ball, but at £4 per ball hurts when I lose it 🙂 I have tried most of the golf balls in your list- none of them disappoint- I would say that probably the biggest factor in choosing a golfball is how you want it to feel when you are putting or chipping not any of the long shots.

I just started playing the maxfli tour. I'm a 15ish handicap golfer. 80 was my previous best round. I played 18 holes this past Saturday with the maxfli and shot a 1 under 71. It has the distance, great stopping power on iron shots, and feels amazing off the putter. Not saying the ball is the reason I shot 71, but it's definitely gonna stay in the bag for a while. Nice. The biggest problem with testing golf balls in the simulator is that it can’t easily test for the dimple pattern design and aerodynamics. It gives ball speed and spin rate cut calculates based on a generic dimple pattern aerodynamic (probably Pro V1) for it. I’ve heard the TP5 is better in the wind - hence would carry differently than what it shows on a simulator. Higher spin on driver but with smaller dimples might carry just as far. Wilson used to have a golf ball with TC2 (or truncated cone squared) shallow dimples which was designed to be less affected the wind.
@lmAqcv11 ай бұрын
Hearing you talk about the TP5 is exactly what I found aswell. They seem to get more spin around the green with chip shots and shorter pitches for me, while still going 3-5 further than any other ball I tested it against. Great ball overall and in my back for a couple of years now aswell.

Great video! I'd love to see you add a cost breakdown on those balls when it comes to dispersion & distance. Like if the Pro-Plus is $3 per ball and the Pro-V1 is $5 a golf ball. How much are you paying for the extra distance. Maybe also consider doing what that cost is worth? I see something like the Vice Pro-Plus as the clear winner. I probably go through around 12 dozen balls per year. That's probably about $400 in savings per year. In my area that is at least 3 golf lessons which could most likely improve my handicap and average score vs paying extra for a pro-v1 for 2% better dispersion and 2 yards on my drive.

In the UK where it rains more in the winter I find personally that a firmer ball with the additional carry works wonders. Of late I have used Titleist AVX. Let's face it on the soft greens anything is going to stop, but I have found the AVX does the job, it feels ok, it flies ok although when it's windy it does get a bit balloony. In the Summer I play TP5 because it gives me exceptional control. Soft like butter off the irons and it loses nothing to anything else off the driver. Funny enough I hit the standard TP5 longer than the TP5x, just weird but nonetheless true. Some surprises in your test I thought. Not tried The Tiger Bridgestone but expect I will find one and then will give it a go.

So I also tested 4 different brands of balls this year looking for better spin on the greens for myself. Here's the balls I tested. I'll give them 1-10... 10 being the best for spin/distance/feel on irons. 1. Sirxon 6/5/6 2. Bridgestone 4/7/6 3. Taylormade 3/7/5 4 Titleist 7/8/8 5 Kirkland 6/5/5 I'm a 5 ♿️. I truly wanted that TP5 to be the best because I had my best scores with it but I couldn't get it to stop on the greens at all. The Kirkland was actually pretty good but the cover will only last 2 rounds before it starts getting beat up. I.E. hitting trees and bouncing off cart paths and rocks! Say what you will, but Titleist was the ball of choice for me and I hate paying so much for it. I'll be looking into this Staff ball tho and hopefully I can get the action in looking for out of the less expensive ball.

First of all, yes love it I’ve been looking for this kind of stuff on KZbin but secondly I have some suggestions. asking Golf companies to send you a ball and them knowing that it’s a promotional material. They have all live in the incentive to send you a much higher quality premium product that is actually available in your local pro shop so I think it would be good to get fans to send a box of premium golf balls they’ve bought and tell you the location so that you can get across the world map of which countries have the best golf balls say Scotland, for instance. Also, the golf balls should be tested with good golf clubs and bad golf clubs to see if there is a better ball for a worse club.

I played the PXG ball this year and loved it. Durability could have been better but it wasn’t that bad at all. The next ball I want to try is the SEED. I also loved the Vice pro plus….

When I eventually run out of my TP5 balls I'll strongly consider trying out either the z-stars or wilson staff models :) thank you for the video pete!

Please try the z-star diamond ball… i play titleist proV1X because I need the height on my irons, but the diamond ball is probably the best feeling ball I’ve ever tried.

As a 7 handicap golfer in my early 50's who is slowly losing distance(260 yard drives), I always keep coming back to the Titleist AVX. Perfect for 90-100mph swing speeds. Lower compression and performs very well in winter conditions. The Taylomade TP5 and TP5x spin too much for me and balloon up way too high. Also, everything else being equal, the quality control on the Titleist is head and shoulders above the rest so you get less duds per dozen.

I enjoy playing Callaway Chrome Soft and Taylor Made TP5’s, especially in the soccer ball pattern for Callaway and triangle pattern on the Taylor Mades.

Tried the PXG recently excellent ball and love the feel around the greens. Good resilience and keeps its colour

I 100% agree that the Taylormade TP5 is an amazing golf ball. Great flight, feel, spin, visibility, and appearance are top-notch. I always have these in the bag.

Just switched irons from a players distance set, to a set of cobra cb/mb. I didn't realize i would have to change balls too. The tp5x works great.

Vice Pro plus - has my vote. I do want to try the Wilson ball

Interesting your comment about the chrome soft, I’ve had one split into two pieces on me mid round with no warning, my friend has had the same and I have another one which although the outer isn’t split suddenly just started sounding really dead off the club face and losing its flight really quickly. Leads me to think it’s cracked inside. All from different sleeves as well. Back to pix for me

Wilson golf club or golf balls are not easy the get your hands on in Eastern Canada ( Quebec province & Montreal for one ) . Their logistic seems basically horrible. I like the Triad ball for instance you have to order them on line otherwise forget it is next to impossible to buy some.

Hi Pete, have you ever tested the Trust golf balls? I play them, am not a good golfer and at 63 have a slower swing, especially as my spine was recently broken in a car accident. Trust balls feel good off the driver and shorter shots.

I've been playing the Vice Pro plus since their 'Shooter' ball with the revolver logo. It just works for me better than the pro v1x. Definitely reccomend it.

I was using the TP5 golf ball but my drives really seemed to go no where in distance. Found a Callaway Chrome soft and played a few holes with it and literally picked up 25 yards. Bought a box of the Chromesoft x LS and picked up 45 yards in total on my drive. I spin the ball too much on my drive but the LS seems to completely negate it.

I've played the TP5 , ProV1, Pro+, and V1x. But, there is a new ball out there that really got my attention for overall performance and price. It's the Legato LTX 3085. My swing speed on driver is 105+. Occasionally, I'll rip a driver well over 300 yards, but most are about 280-290. So, in simple terms, I don't swing fast enough to 'turn on' the distance factors of the premium brands. But I like their durability and flight characteristics. The Legato has more feel than the premium balls, IMO. It also has an 85 compression rating, and is USGA approved. The 85 compression rating seems right there where I need it. At the price point combined with this ball's durability, it's the only option that makes sense for my game.

Been playing vice pro for years now. I think it aligns more to a prov1 and has more spin than the plus. Great video!
