I've seen ball flight like that when a ball breaks or cracks. It happened to me off the tee and the ball only went about half as far as it should have and dove left. I hit it again and it went way right. Upon the third strike the ball literally broke into two pieces in the air. That's when I knew I'd broken it off the tee. I think If Bryson would have found that ball, or if someone has since found it, I bet it's cracked.

@HolyGrailOfGolf3 жыл бұрын
@@rfc157 If you think about it, if the ball did break it would break in the front where it's being stretched the most. The crack would open, the ball gets bigger and catches the ground. I've hit about 5 or 6 balls that broke and they all did weird stuff like that one did and we all looked at each other just like he did because the ball speed vs impact is just wildly off and you know something is wrong.

@@JMEAUS22 no you have to use a driver to drive the ball Otherwise it is an iron or wood shot.
@JMEAUS223 жыл бұрын
@@touristguy87 New to golf I see. A drive is a ball hit off the tee, no matter which club it is. You can drive off the tee with a 3 iron or 3 wood for instance. Some players even have driving irons. An iron specifically made for driving the ball & very hard to use from the fairway. Those aren't drivers, they're an iron. A drive is the type of shot. Its not club specific. I've seen people use 7 iron out of the bunker, putt with a lob wedge & use putter from 100 yards away from the flag. Its a type of shot, its not restricted to one particular club A driver is also a wood by the way. It is a 1 wood. Hope that clears it up

@@rfsilv02 it’s called extension and all long hitters do it at impact with their woods, especially off the tee. It’s different to early extension which causes a player to appear to be upright at impact due to the hips thrusting towards the ball, which is very common in amateurs who struggle to rotate properly. His hands were out of sync with his body here; just like the commentators said, his body said he was going to keep it low but the hands just weren’t on the same page. He certainly didn’t ‘stand up’ in his downswing. His upper and lower body are open at impact, his timing was just off. Happens to everyone though.
