Beautiful hay and nice operation! We had an old Vermeer 504 Super I. It would clog if there was the slightest bit of moisture on the windrow. We couldn't start baling until after 12 and had to stop before the sun got low in the sky. They all have their peculiarities. . Glad you got it rolling again. Cool net wrap!

We run the same 604Select, last year it was plugging more than normal.Our dealer support helped us solve the problems. They suggested removing the rubber flappers on the center top bars to allow the hay to fall down as it gathered in the baler. We also added rubber flappers {4" x 12" baler belt with self taping screws} to the augers on each side. While baling huge 4.5' x 2.5' wind rows a slower start is required. Also on super dry "low Moisture" days slow the bailer RPM down while increasing your forward speed. I have found 440 to 460 RPM works well. Happy Harvesting!

No not many issues at all. Just typical maintenance. Small fields aren't terrible. 5 acres us doable. We do those all the time. I wouldn't want it in smaller fields though. It's possible, but not ideal

I run 2 605N's and 1 has never been plugged, the other would occasionally plug and gradually got worse, and having 2 in the same hay and only one plugging I knew the one had a problem somewhere. Eventually found on the left side of the baler on one of the sprockets they put an aluminum bushing between the sprocket and the shaft and that bushing had slipped, providing enough tension in dry or lighter hay but it would slip in damp or heavy hay causing it to plug. Replaced the bushing and they both start anything the tractor will drive over.

Had the same issue with our 5410 rebel. Has that guard in the pickup. I adjusted where the guard could go all the way up and I was able to go from like a 2 to like b 1. It restricted the amount of hay that could go in as far as I could see. Raefelt equipment is a good dealer. We just purchased a Vermeer 810 disc mower.

Go back to a John Deere Baler. I have ran both & Vermeer is good and their service has always been good but the bottom line is, if you are going to run high production you basically have to run John Deere. We have had the same experiences that y’all are having.

@farming4g3 жыл бұрын
Vermeers have always been harder starting out of all the major brands mainly on a thick, heavy, wide windrow. Other than that they are simple solid machines and company support is the best out there as far as I'm concerned... even out of warranty they stand by their machines. Don't have to run JD to have high production, that makes no sense. Take any machine that's dialed in it will perform great regardless of paint color.

The reason it only does it while starting a bale is because the core doesn’t start turning for whatever reason. I run 605n and only time I have that problem is if you happen to start a bale in a damp spot in field. Too high moisture will do it everytime. Once bale starts turning you can’t choke it down.

Man the baler issues your having are no fun. The jd baler is better at starting a bale no doubt, but I understand the dealer support issue as well. I have the same issue with the jd dealer in my area, but over time I learned my equipment & tend to not rely on the dealer as much any more. Do you think you should have stayed with a 5x6 baler so your not making & handling so many bales? That's a lot of extra stops to wrap a bale so really increases the baling time. Then there's all the hauling & stacking afterwards. There's a lot of hay being made in Texas right now, that's for sure. How many acres was that field & what did the bale count end up at?
