When a vehicle reaches its operating temperature, the thermostat opens up. Coolant flows through the engine; it absorbs the surplus heat and then disperses it into the air with the radiator.
To keep your engine healthy, choosing a good quality coolant is necessary. When Antifreeze is diluted with water, it can lower the freezing point of the coolant to about -27 degrees Celsius and raise the boiling to about 127 degrees Celsius. So, how will you know which coolant is the best or which one to choose? This video talks about the different types of coolants and which one is made for your vehicle.
A significant constituent of Coolant is MEG (Mono Ethylene Glycol). This antifreeze additive protects the cooling system from freezing down or boiling up. Every coolant has a different ratio of MEG, and it can define its performance.
A refractometer is a well-established instrument to measure the MEG content of Antifreeze. It measures the refractive index of liquid, which changes according to the moisture content. We have tested five of the best coolant available in the market and tested their MEG percentage. Watch the video to know more.

Refractive index is a property related to how light interacts with a substance and is generally not a key factor in engine coolant selection. Engine coolant requirements typically revolve around: Thermal Conductivity: The coolant should be an effective heat transfer medium, efficiently carrying heat away from the engine components to prevent overheating. Freeze and Boil Protection: It should protect the engine from freezing in cold temperatures and boiling in hot conditions. This property is essential for the proper functioning of the cooling system in a wide range of climates. Corrosion Protection: Engine coolant should inhibit corrosion within the cooling system, helping to extend the life of various components, including the radiator and engine block. Compatibility: It should be compatible with the materials used in the engine, such as aluminum, copper, and steel, as well as rubber and plastic components in the cooling system. Longevity: An ideal coolant should have a reasonable lifespan without breaking down, losing its effectiveness, or depositing harmful contaminants in the system. Environmental Considerations: Coolants should meet environmental standards and regulations, and they should be disposed of responsibly. While refractive index can vary among different coolants, it is typically not a primary consideration for automotive engine coolant. Golden Cruiser is the primary manufacturer of coolant. The best options for all weather conditions are either fully concentrated coolant or 50:50 antifreeze coolant, labeled RTU. For concentrated coolant, it's advised to dilute it with 50% distilled water before use. The 50:50 antifreeze coolant offers protection against freezing and boiling over, with a freezing point of around -37 degrees Celsius and a boiling point around 116 degrees Celsius Since 1988, I've been manufacturing coolant. Back then, conventional coolant was the only option available. Over time, companies have enhanced their quality standards, transitioning to OAT formulations due to vehicle manufacturers demands.However, the majority of companies tend to favor HOAT. While some opt for Propylene Glycol due to its eco-friendly nature, Ethylene Glycol is more commonly used, often in combination with OAT or HOAT formulations. There are 2 best coolants with proper values when mixed with distilled water 1) Castrol heavyduty 2) Bosch. Good and proper meg values and reliable. Go mechanic products are doubtful, mind it that ur radiator costs much more than these 2 coolants.. So go mechanic ise karne se pehle soch lo!

Always go for Bosch if you want green coolant. Else try for Wurth. If not Golden cruiser is also good

Ideal ph is between 8-9. Actually Propylene Glycol is more expensive then Ethylene Glycol. Sir I manufactured coolant in 1988 and got ISI mark. I gives my service to so many companies who successfully manufacture coolant and they also pack for big companies in their own brand

You are right that Ethylene Glycol based coolant is better due to its freezing and boiling point. But when your concentrated coolant having only 23% glycol and you mentioned use 1:3 in your direction for use. It means it is not good in cold weather. This 1:1 or 1:2 is good for pure / 100% concentrated coolant. Companies making fool to actual user

Hi Arjun, The MEG content should be less than 50% in a coolant. India is a tropical country, we don't experience extreme climates (-40 or +50 ). The MEG value of 65% is better suited for cold regions or deserts. Also, a high MEG content can form lumps and choke the radiator or cooling system.

You will not see immediate results after using liqui molly or Abro Diesel Injector Cleaner. It works internally to clean injector pipelines. Usually 1 bottle of 350ml per 60L is recommended
