Chest mounted cam my ass.That is a gyroscopic camera. If you look closely you will see that the bugs on the front protective glass of the cam follow the movement of the bike,while the camera does not.If it were indeed positioned on the rider, it would deviate to the left of the gas tank on left-hand turns and to the right on right-hand turns.
@timothywheelock18508 жыл бұрын
chest mounted gyroscopic? it says right in the text that it is gyroscopic
@voxac30withstrat8 жыл бұрын
I also cant see how it is chest mounted. When you ride a bike your body does not stay at a constant level vertical to the bike and especially when you are riding at those speed because you sit up and use your body as an air brake. It would also lean and move with the rider. To get round those corners you would move your backside to one or the other side of the seat. To my mind it has to be mounted on the tank and for it to stay level and not lean with the bike it has to be gyroscopic. Happy to be corrected but it just doesn't make sense to be chest mounted
@timothywheelock18508 жыл бұрын

RIP to the bugs that gave their lives for this record... Also the dudes a monster - I love how he revs it while braking - dude just can't NOT twist that throttle!
@kleinbottled795 жыл бұрын
He's blipping the throttle to match revs on the down shifts. This let's you be real fast on and off the clutch without upsetting the chassis. Pretty much a required skill if you want to bang down gears fast without a fancy up-and-down quick-shifter. A slipper clutch kinda lets you get away with not doing it, but it's still much smoother to rev match. Plus it's fun.
@kleinbottled795 жыл бұрын
Also what he said. It's a part of your brake balance front/rear. Downshifting to hold the revs near the top of the tack is supplying a lot of 'braking' force to the rear wheel. I love how one is always doing like 5 things simultaneously when riding around bends. That little bit more engaging than driving.
@JokerX1264 жыл бұрын
He's rev matching as he's coming into a corner, so the method is break, down shift most of the time 2 or 3 gears and you have to rev match to keep it smooth, so he revs it. He's not doing it for fun, it's so he can enter a turn at a way faster speed and slow down for the turn as fast as possible.

Df4gc Yes, they do remember all those corners. Seeing as you've been to IoMTT (very nice btw, I went to UlsterGP last year, which is awesome as well), you must know that those guys remember everything. How else can they have such insane laptimes? They know every apex of every corner, they know every bump round the track. The only thing they do not know is the weather on the other side of the track. Guys like McGuinness, the Dunlops and Martin al say it takes at least 3 years to learn the track, so while difficult, not impossible. The Nordschleiffe will probably be a bit easier to learn than IoMTT, but still very difficult.

Those shifts were beautiful. And what's with the turn with the awkward bank at 5:44 anyway? Whenever I played this track in racing games that bank would always screw me over.

@OniMirage8 жыл бұрын
+6Twisted One of two things happens on that turn, you hit the carousel just right to maintain speed or your get forced onto the top of the turn which causes you to slow down. There is another on the last few turns before the long straight and that one will buck your ass to the wall if you exit too early.

7:50 lap time gets you 72nd place on the all time 'ring records
@NoNameLeft15008 жыл бұрын
+Chris Herrin well it does sound like an incredible accomplishment if that considers realy all records.. so not just bikes but also cars and also race cars.. just think about what has all driven on the ring yet.. ALOT and ALOT realy fast stuff
@felixarbable8 жыл бұрын
+NoNameLeft1500 nah that doesn't include race cars,or non road legal cars, race cars are much faster the fastest being the posche 956 with a 6m11ss lap! and the zonda R did a 6:47

GREAT LAP,I learnt the track on a ps2 game (I must of spent 6 months solid learning it) then I went out in 2007 on my zx6r and my first ever lap I went round in 8.55 not too shabby I thought...I will say though the game didn't teach me about the undulations and bumps etc fantastic place though and stunning scenery too, god bless the Germans.

@Ostrid18 жыл бұрын
In what world lol Bikes are lighter and take turns and corners faster Cars need to worry about oversteer and understeer but bikes just lean and cut the corners at higher speeds
@Slow_Impreza8 жыл бұрын
cars have so much more rubber on the road and not too mention downforce that cars can corner almost comically faster than bikes. a bike is limited by how far you can lean over and cars are exclusively grip limited. bikes are only faster in a straight line, and even then after they are done spinning the back tire and trying to lift the front. bikes can oversteer and understeer too only it's usually referred to sliding out or losing the front end/pushing/washing out.

Its bad enough someone left a cone in the middle of the road, but Lord help those riders if a deer comes out of those woods and decides its a good day to become instant sausage. That camera angle and ride was awesome. Its really cool to get some speed thrill without the danger. Thanks for the vid. I’m not sure I’ll ever make it to the nuremberg ring, not sure I want to either. I bet this guy has a thousand laps under his belt before doing this run that fast. Thanks again, that truly is remarkable riding.
