I love that part of what makes the Jajaken so effective is purely its intimidation factor. It causes even incredibly experienced Hunters to freeze in terror the first time they've seen it, and anyone who's seen it before wants so hard not to be hit by it that it actively influences their decision making in combat. They so desperately don't want to get hit by it, which may leave them vulnerable to other attacks.

It's not so much Jajaken, but Gon's own dense nen. Jajaken is pretty ineffective. It takes way too long to wind up and Gon hasn't even bothered to train the other forms of it, he only ever uses rock. It's a glorified punch covered in nen at this rate.

I may be in the minority here, but I see Morel and the other hunters in the extermination team as complicit to what happens to Gon later on. It's obv he's going to have a mental breakdown but they don't care as long as he kills Pitou. Poor Gon and Killua. They were used and abused like weapons and are too young and dysfunctional to realize this. I think that's the real reason why Kurapika and Leorio weren't included in this arc. They would've attempted to interfere and pointed out to the kids that they are being used. The Chimera arc is such an interesting allegory to what happens to children soldiers IRL. Togashi, man.
