Finally, 116. This episode, in my opinion, is the best episode of the whole series, and one of the greatest episodes of any anime ever. The voice acting performance in here is unmatched in any form of media I've ever seen. You can really feel the pure rage and frustration in Gon's voice. The VA killed it.

I haven't seen many series where there's this much attention to inner mental battle that combatants have. That's why you can't have this arc without the narrator. He's crucial to filling in details that you can't have the characters say out loud, because half the time they're not fully aware enough of what's happening to put it into words.

People need to understand, before this Gon lived a happy life, he is loved for all his life by aunt Mito, he has never truly experienced real pain and real loss. It turns out if you throw kids into trauma inducing situations they have to grow up really quickly and that creates lasting scars on the persona. Children who are forced to mature before they should, often find themselves with a complex web of mental issues to work through, which is depicted on this episode really well. Killua on the other hand is the exact opposite he has known nothing but pain, because of his harsh assassin training thus he has the "capacity" to work with dealing with these issues. Also let's not forget that Killua's family kinda f*** him up, early in the series he has a dead view of the world because of all the trauma he's gone through it's only after meeting Gon he kinda found that spark again.

I feel like something to keep in mind is Gon has never been a true innoncent child, if you think back to Zepile saying what made Gon interesting back in Yorknew arc was that hes open to both good and bad and just acts according to his "innoncent curiosity". He didnt bat an eye to finding out his new friend comes from a family of elite assassins, doesnt care when he rips the heart out of a guy, intentionally doesnt follow a plan because he had an idea, allows himself to get deceived. Then with the conversation between Gon and Meleron him asking why did he trust him and Gon says "it wasnt that I didnt trust you, I just didnt know why you were following me" him open to a relationship with an ant his curiorisity again not writing off all ants as "evil". And then the most important line "besides if you were lying then itd make it easier...I wont have to show you any mercy, I'll be free to destroy you"

all that is very primal and innocent to be honest. children are like that, they are single minded and really is ruthless. Gon is a child and that's why he is that way, but not just any child of course, he's a child with immense power and incredible instincts, so he is dangerous obviously. the side effects of being perceptive is the intensity of each sentiment. Gon has a lot of artistry uncommon for children of course, but that comes from being isolated on an island, living with animals and belonging to the forests. Chapter 1 shows Gon to be a sagacious child who understands the honor and unspoken rules of the jungle. Gon is a supernatural kid by design, by ways of nurturing, by lifestyles. But still a kid. 😂😂😂 very much a kid , he's unpredictable.

Finally reactors who got it. Pitou was not healing Komugi because she felt sorry for her, she was following the king's order and was doing it for him. The royal guards have experienced character development but not in this situation. Other reactors made it look like Gon was the villain.
@Jeff17ish6 ай бұрын
If Meruem ordered Pitou to dissect Komugi's brain to see why she was so smart at Gungi, Pitou would have done it in a second. People in the fandom just turn Pitou into something she's clearly not because she's a cat girl thing.

Gon IS evil during this arc, at least by his own standards during the York New Arc
@ratthapol2496 ай бұрын
Never see who said Pitou feel sorry for Komugi, mostly people and rectors understand Pitou did it for the King. It's easy. But what people upset about Gon, because he ignored the fact that his action could ends Komugi's life. She's innocent, bro. Komugi is an innocent person there. Compared to Kite, who came prepare to died it's huge difference. And if you really focus on what Kite said since the beginning that this was a true nature of hunting. You hunt them down, but if you aren't good enough you will be hunted. Gon just can't deal with it, with guilty he felt inside his whole heart. And I didn't blame him for that because he's so young and it was his first time he felt real lost (by his own action took some part) But ultimately, you can't say that it's the right thing to harm innocent person just because you can't deal with the guilt you feel inside your heart. It's nothing to do with Komugi, and Killua always there for him, why it's okay to always going forward all by himself without a second thought and then talked shit to your best friend like that? Gon is turning towards darkness is real, but it's completely understandable, yet it's not the right thing for what he did there. But of course, nobody is "completely" right in this situation.

"Gon, no matter what happens stay focused on Pitou." "Go crazy with the best of them." "Don't lose sight of our goal! It is to defeat that ant!" And so he did, I don't see the problem. lol I'm joking btw, but everyone was indeed steering Gon towards Pitou like a rabid dog in a sense.
@tng20226 ай бұрын
Definitely. Gon would not want to disappoint them. And he didn't. But everyone should not have let Gon do it. everyone wants Gon to get what he wants and they don't even care that Gon is outmatched. they already know Pitou is stronger but they encourage Gon to follow through with his plans because they can't change his mind anyway. Killua should have expressed his true feelings and be the one who stopped Gon from going too far, like he always did from the beginning of their friendships, but he was afraid that Gon would say : " alright i'll do it alone", he doesn't want Gon to die alone, so he submitted to Gon's desire and go along preparing to die with Gon. it's a different value and virtue of friendships, in HxH we have creatures who live and die for each other, but only if they could just stop the others from self destructions. like the Phantom Troupes, if only they could stop each other from being the troupes, it would have been different. in Yorkshin arc, Gon and Killua wishes Kurapika to not kill and not be blinded by revenge, but here we are with the same problems, and Gon was not thinking in the same line Kurapika was.... because he cannot handle the pain, and could not forgive his enemy, which is also perfectly understandable and reasonable.
