Worked the flea market back in the 70s in Tucson Arizona. All the stuff you’re showing from Mexico is what I sold. Now it’s Chinese stuff but my boss went to Mexico regularly and I sold it. I learned more by selling and sleeping the weekend flea markets than I did in High School! What an awesome adventure and I feel bad for my children and grandchildren that they won’t experience adventure. At 14 I would have thousands of dollars in my pocket my pocket and my boss trusted me to make a fair deal. It was scary at times but it’s a life experience that has helped me.

My parents wintered in Yuma for about 20 years. Originally they drove down and home to SW Ontario for six months. For the first two years they boondocked and the following many years they bought a trailer and stayed in the park. I went down usually the end of February for two weeks. My arthritis used to party it was so happy with the weather. Most of my earrings and pendants came from Algodones. I had hoped to do some travelling. I was going to head across Canada to the west coast and then down the west coast to San Diego and then east to Yuma. Then I was going to winter there. Unfortunately all great plans go to heck. Maybe next year. You helped me with nostalgia. Thank you.

Loved rhis! So much info. I had seen a show oncd about California's Salton Sea but didn't know how it firmed, only that it had become so tixic that everyone living there abandoned it. That flea market looked like fun and i sure like Linda's new hat! And yes we are getting snow here at home and super cold starts again tomorrow night. Take care you two❤

I think l got your plan figured out. Take the bike to town and Linda cant buy much and carry it back to camp.😂 But where theres a will there's a way. I carried a radiator as.a backpack from Montpellier Id back to camp. Fun experience but above 40mph it wants to pull you off the bike. Oh the adventure of travel! Thanks for sharing your trip.

Interesting about the “damn dam”. Wow! I used to be a scuba instructor and dove with students in the Salton Sea before it died. My booth was J22 on the vendor side, near the food court, Jan 17-26. Would have been great to see you again! Love the hat, Linda. 👍🏼 Sorry, Rick, I absolutely boondock in remote solitude in Q. One just has to go further out. 😘I should have given Linda one of my books! 🤦🏻♀️ Safe travels.

Dan and teresa here . Thank you for another wonderful video. Of nomad life. Great to meet up with you two in the yuma area. We will be here until the last week in February. Then heading to pahrump for annual doctor's appointments. If you're still in the Yuma area in February. Please stop by and I'll have a key lime pie to bake on Standby. If not maybe in Pahrump . Until next time, see you down the road with Gods Peace🎉❤

The Salton Sea could still be such a cool destination as it was up into the sixties if they had left some of the river pouring into the Sea to keep it's level stable. My brother flew practice runs for the Navy ASW in the fifties. The Salton has filled and drained with the shifting of the Colorado over many thousands of years. Now days the river channel is maintained and will never again naturally fill with silt and change course naturally. Hey, if you see a 7mm 1/4" drive socket, I can't find mine, just send it by pigeon... Take the 20 mile drive in Organ Pipe. Very cool. Get your senior discount, trail pass included with your camp fee. Five mile drive is cool too. Take care.

Glad to see you two out and about. I’ve been using a LeVolt air purifier to capture the dust and lint inside. While it’s sounds weird, I use a 18vdc hand blower to get the dust and lint airborne and the air purifier picks it up.

I have a question for you I’m asking you because you are so knowledgeable about everything camping. We would like to get a small trailer for camping but then I saw a video of a solo camper explaining how in the middle of the night someone wired his door shut and if he hadn’t have had another door out he would have been in a life threatening situation. It really shook him up. That made me very scared of camping. I see so many of those swinging grab bars and all I can see now is someone closing it and blocking me inside. How could a person make sure they could always get out no matter what?

At about 13:30 you describe what it's like being in Quartzsite vs dispersed bo0ndockin'... I so very much favor the latter... but then meeting up in town for PIE lmao yes! please. Thanks. "Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam and the skies! are not cloudy all day. Where seldom is heard a discouraging word and there're no a-holes running gensets all week nonstop. Home! Home on the range... Where the deer and the antelope play... where the trucks and the cargo trailers stay... and there's no bad manners and bad camp etiquette to bother me." - I think that's how that goes, isn't it? I'm not a songwriter so you will please forgive me. hee haw

Wait, Colorado River flows from North to South, so how could a dam in Los Algodones /Yuma break and then flow back toward the direction of the River's origin? Well I'm still a little fuzzy about the 1905 occurrence, but hydro-dynamically it must help that the dam was approximately elevation 108 feet above sea level, but the Salton Sea basin approximately is -226 feet below sea level. Still, it seems like the dam break needed to flow ~40 miles over thirsty sand that probably isn't flat, so even 300 foot slope over 40 miles... smoke coming from my head. Or maybe the dam water flowed the downhill in an existing aqueduct, where they didn't design 'Gates' to mitigate a dam failure?
