When 4 year old Amanda McCready disappears from her home and the police make little headway in solving the case, the girl's aunt, Beatrice McCready hires two private detectives, Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. The detectives freely admit that they have little experience with this type of case, but the family wants them for two reasons - they're not cops and they know the tough neighborhood in which they all live. As the case progresses, Kenzie and Gennaro face drug dealers, gangs and pedophiles. When they are about to solve the case, they are faced with a moral dilemma that tears them apart.

There's an episode of COPS you should watch, female cop has to take a toddler from a mom, takes the kid to social services where some fat uncaring workers tell the cop to just put the kid in an empty crib, cop asks for a blanket and they say "naa he'll be fine" cop leaves, looks at the camera and says "I should have just left him with the mother" - and the bigger the city, the more of a craphole social services is. The cop in the movie made the wrong choice.

The thing I don’t understand is why the brother went through all this trouble so the little girl could have another family when he could have just found a way with social services or else so that he and her wife ( who really loved her niece, wanted to be a mother but couldn’t ) could take care of her and in that way stay in the family…

He's one of my favorite actors, if you haven't seen the Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, I totally recommend it. Its slower paced than this but Casey Affleck is perfection in his role. Beautifully haunting cinematography and soundtrack too.

When you are 31 and you thought you know better. SO then what? can he live his whole life now by doing one good act but impacted the lives of many? He was careless with his decisions, he didn't weigh everything before deciding when he could have sleep it through. Doyle got it wrong though, it didn't take him 30 years to realized he did the wrong choice. Being a parent doesn't mean you're the better choice.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is really good, beautiful cinematography, haunting soundtrack and Casey Affleck is PHENOMENAL in it too. Different period and story but same grit and depth.

I thought this was a good movie. Here are some suggestions of some other movies I thought were good. You might have seen some already but these movies kinda gave me the same vibe as Gone Baby Gone. Ex Machina, Gone Girl, Shutter Island, The Prestige , Arrival, District 9, American Beauty, American History X, Interstellar, Inception, The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. Had I not read the book first, I probably would have enjoyed it. It's book four in a series of six. The basic storyline is there, but he really screwed up on the characters and the casting. Take Bubba for instance. in the books he is a Marine Corps Veteran who fought in Beirut. He suffers from PTSD. He becomes a black market arms dealer. In the books he is described as wearing black, combat boots and a trench coat most of the time and he drives a H1 Hummer. By the way he's described in the books I'm thinking Ray Stevenson with a shaved head. He is a feared and respected badass in the books. They got some rapper to play him and he is portrayed as some gang banger dipshit that drives a Navigator. That's one of the more obvious flaws that I can think of. Great book series. Read the books.
