For those of you saying that the actors look alike, when you look at anyone in state/government work (in this case police officers, but the same goes for CIA and FBI) the similar look is common. Generic white male, a short clean cut and comb, clean shaven, medium muscular build (think runner's build), and a height not exceeding 6'1. It allows them to blend well on the street. I'm guessing the director had this in mind when making this movie.

hands= symbolism of the morality of what you do. i'll throw in another scorses movie: cape fear. there's a great shot of nick nolte's hands shaking and full of blood. the next shot shows him washing the blood off of his hands. i won't go into it if you haven't seen the movie, but it's very meaningful. and tarantino has a foot fetish. there have been women who've dated him that confirm this!
