The engine upgrade to something larger would it be worth it, also is there a stater on this to run lights..

steve smith The way the machine comes with the set hydraulic pressure is pretty much what the machine can handle safely. But with the lines mine came with 1/4” and a small volume pump mine needed a little speed up. I’m running a Diesel now and I run it slow but with a hi volume pump it took some expeiinient
@goneredcar14 жыл бұрын
Sorry dropped my Pad and post my last message before it was completed. I had tried several combinations and settled on the one I’m using now. It’s a blend of hydraulic speed and low engine RPM. The engine handles it just fine. Good tip keep the machine well greased and I mean well greased. I would also change the hydraulic fluid filter after 20 hrs.to remove the crud in the hydraulic tank, it had a lot of weld material from tank construction.

Could you please explain how it is possible to increase flow and still have the same pressure? Did you use a larger engine?
@loveoftheoutdoors77675 жыл бұрын
The function of a pump is to take fluid from one location and move it to another. This is called flow rate. Pressure is the resistance of this flow by the working mechanism, cylinders in this case. So a higher volume pump will complete the work quicker while maintaining pressure. He said in a comment that the original pump is 2.7 GMP and in the video he said he increased this with the new pump by 40% so he is now running a 3.78 GMP (Gallons Per Minute) so he is able to do the same work as before just 40% faster. Hope this helps.

I like your backhoe and would like to make a fully electric one for my electric garden tractor, and it could be charged by solar, zero pollution Brian Edmond 2hrs cutting approx 2 acres or 8-10 hrs pulling trailer on a charge Converting to battery power is a great idea for a garden tractor I converted one 15yrs ago, I used the 3 separate motor design and it is still cutting grass on a daily basis, it is amazing how it never breaks down and needs almost no maintenance, I renew the batteries every 7 yrs I am just on my 3rd set now, my design will cut up to 2 acres on a 50cent charge there are no belts or pulleys and no oil on the entire tractor, it can pull a trailer for about 8hrs on a charge, because battery run time is the most important aspect of most conversions I paid particular attention to the most efficient design, I used 3 separate small motors one for the drive with electronic speed control and two smaller with a cutter blade mounted on the shaft of each cutter motor ,total amperage when cutting grass is approx 40amps, (2000watts) this design only uses the battery power req to do the job, very little wasted battery power, it uses magnetic breaking of both tractor and cutter blades and automatically applies parking brake when you stop or get off the seat, an amazing tractor. electrictractor.net Location of video#1 on youtube kzbin.info/www/bejne/joqxeoadoqabma8

I got the "Salami Hydraulics Aluminum Gear Pump 1.6PE4.1D-R080S0 - mod# 614470242" at Mason Dynamics, Inc. This was the only place online where I could find anything about this pump...$220.04 tax and shipping. I don't think these people actually stock anything. You order from them and then they order it from a supplier somewhere else. When they get it, they'll ship it to you. They said they'll send me an email when it ships. I ordered on 2/25/2019 and it's now end of day 2/28/2019 and I've heard nothing, so I don't think they've received it from their supplier yet. Got the pump, but I'm dead in the water because...well, it's crazy. The backhoe uses metric and local hydraulic shops only use SAE. The Salami pump is made in Italy and they use UNF, which I think may be the same as SAE, but I'm not sure, but the output fitting size on this pump is 9/16". Why in the world...what's wrong with 1/2" or 5/8"? Try to get a hose locally with a straight female DIN 16mm 1.5 thread fitting on one end and a 90 degree female DIN 9/16" fitting on the other end isn't going to happen. So you have to get a 9/16" fitting for the pump and then a 9/16" to something else adapter to fit a hose fitting. Go online to buy a hose and there are dozens or hundreds of different types of hose fittings and try to determine what you need using their language and codes. Prepare to spend a ton of time online trying to chase down parts and even then you'll have to "shade tree engineer" something and hope it doesn't break and shower you with scorching hot hydraulic fluid. I can read the tea leaves, so I'm probably going to shelf the Salami pump, take the engine off the backhoe, take it to hydraulic shop somewhere and let them install a pump, mount, coupler connector and install the fittings. Eventually I'm going to have a traditional backhoe valve body installed and have all the hoses and cylinders replaced with all SAE stuff. I'll have a small fortune invested in this backhoe when I'm done, but it'll still be less than what a real backhoe or tractor/backhoe would cost.
@goneredcar15 жыл бұрын
When I refitted the pump I took the old hose that went to the control valve to a hydraulic shop they match the hose fitting adapter to the pump. Then the same to the low pressure side of the pump and hose. I was in and out in no time. The whole job was under 1 hr to complete. I believe they called it BST thread British Straight thread, not for sure but something like that. Hope this helps.

@goneredcar14 жыл бұрын
I would check oil level and remove the spin on filter for metal particles from assembly. This is a open loop system and bleeding isn’t necessary. Then see if your engine is running fast enough. Remember the pump is very small with little volume. They do this because of safety, because of the group that will be operating them . I have put several hundred hours on my machine and it still looks like new and runs like that to best advise is keep it well greased and oil changed.

I believe your pressure is to high you need to obtaine a pressure gauge and see what your max pressure is running. The relief valve should pop at 2500 lbs or around there. I have heard of several people having that problem if that's the case a simple adjustment is all that's necessary. But remember this should be done by a hydraulic shop.
