Superb. I have no other words for this video. The stone block path at the start had me excited, then came the cave and finally the rough boulder peak. Just superb. You did such a great job at capturing the vistas. The short interactions with the other hikers were a nice bonus as well.

That wooden plaque has "Mt. Chokai" written on it in Japanese. So people were taking turns sitting on the rock and posing with it to show they had reached the summit. Many Japanese mountain summits have similar plaques that people take photos with.

Beautiful, Quiinlan! I wonder if the "cave" like rock structure near the summit has higher spiritual significance, as you commented "rebirth" when you emerged? It was also very nice to see the conversations with people along the way. The people you spoke to seemed eager to share with you.
@GoNorthJapan4 жыл бұрын
I will try and find out about the cave-like structure near the summit. I know some other mountains where those areas are said to symbolize going through the birth canal and being reborn into a more spiritual world, but I don't know if that is a local belief there or not. But because there is a little shrine in it, it definitely has some spiritual significance.

I've watched a few of your videos, all stunning and giving me the urge to go back to Japan when the opportunity comes. There's just a thing or two that could be worth considering, for instance, the use of silence and pacing in the videos. As far as I can make out, it usually goes: hike up with a lot of commentary, drone shots(beautifully executed), then hike down with slightly less commentary. Since many outdoor enthusiasts like the silence, perhaps it might be worth trying to interject that between the comments, either in a very stable POV walk along the track or in a static shot of the wonderful streams and rivers you come across. Perhaps even cut the music, like you do in the introduction of videos sometimes. I guess, in a way, go more zen and focus in on the small moments, to really put us in your shoes/hiking boots. Wish you all the best and hope your channel keeps growing!

Maybe someday when I have more time and money I'll try to be one of those people that does all of them. Well at least I want to get all of them in Tohoku. The end of October should be possible, though it is technically after the normal hiking season. It's different each year but probably little to no snow at that point! That's a great time for Akita Komagatake or Mt. Iwate as well!
