I love Charles Brown. Merry Christmas Baby‼️

Saw CB perform only once, 1991 in Philadelphia, and was impressed by two things - his incredible power on the keyboard - he seemed to hit down with such power and precision and melody - he wasn't just banging on the keys, but each note was powerfully struck. And the second was that he was such a good looking man, even with his corny captain's cap. LOL It was a music festival in the summer so I was a little preoccupied with the females passing by, but could tell why women thought he was damn sexy.

I have played harmonica against this tune more times than I can count. I was hipped to the piece in 1973. It was covered by the greatest harp man, Paul Butterfield. That one tune has been a part of me from the moment I first heard it. Now, I am Thrilled to see and hear Charles Brown play this. I play piano in this style, too, so this is an especially cool find. Mr. Brown's singing voice is really special, too. Thanks for sharing this. Peace. ☺

And, if you don’t know, he wrote it (as he describes in his intro). Mr. Brown Also wrote “Merry Christmas baby” and so many more. An early influence on Ray Charles, as well as Bobby (Blue) Bland and Sam Cooke. I heard him at Tramps Cafe in the early ‘90s. 🗣🎶 Heaven!
