It would be cool if you checked out Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, since the 20th anniversary of it was yesterday

All of my favorite albums rely on the guitar sound. I would put about 10 Sonic Youth albums in my top 100 albums list. I love how they throw together a bunch of notes and sounds that don't seem related, but then make it all work together. There are only a handful of bands I would put above them: Modest Mouse, Pavement/Stephen Malkmus, Television, Pixies and maybe Talking Heads. I'd love to see more Sonic Youth reactions or anything from the bands I just mentioned.

HOW DID I MISS THIS! Goos' album cover is absolutely perfect.

Have you listened to Built to Spill? Even if you don't do an album reaction I would still highly recommend a listen. They have 8 great albums to choose from. Their 3rd album Perfect From Now On released in 1997 is one of the best releases of the 90s and of all time in my opinion. I get the impression that if god were real and decided to walk up and talk to me, his voice would sound just like Doug Martsch's guitar.

Always loved your reactions and your interpretations of the music you listen to. Would love to see you react to Welcome to Sky Valley from Kyuss. They play heavy grooves that can shake builds yet be very hypnotic as well. Highly recommended.

I got to see them on tour for this album in Portland, OR. The opening bands were Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana.

Tunic is about Karen Carpenter who died of anorexia. The lines about her "disappearing" are literal.

@ STP only played like 4 songs and I didn't know them at the time. They were the opener and the crowd was still arriving when they went on. But you're right - Nirvana was touring for Bleach and SY was touring for Goo. It was and amazing show and the best SY show I've seen (out of three). Best Nirvana show was a little later - Treepeople, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr. - every band was great that night.

It has been interesting to listen to the individual members albums since the breakup, it really has taught me what each member brought to the song writing table. Lee, Thurston and Kim all have unique styles and from listening to their solo stuff I've found that as Sonic Youth those songs in each of their style is now apparent. Worth checking out. I'd love to see a comparison reaction of their solo works.

this is a really good reaction, i think you'd like the atmosphere of their second album bad moon rising.
