For those of you that play music you will see that John is annoyed with the sound of the guitar and keeps looking for his sound guy, probably either too low in his in ear monitors or doesnt think it is getting mixed properly in the mix, I tend to agree, this is an acoustic driven song and it needs to be in the mix more prominently.

I’m a sound engineer of 20 years, most of that as a monitor engineer. There’s no way the guitar was too low in his IEMs, he’d have said something, made a gesture or stopped playing. The fact that he’s wearing IEMs means he wouldn’t know what the house mix sounds like, you are completely isolated with them in and listening to your mix. Finally, this concert was most likely recorded as a multitrack then mixed and mastered later on. You would very rarely, if ever, use a FOH mix for a recording like this.

I noticed he kept removing his hand from the neck and looking around. They did excellent overall but was hard to hear the acoustic guitar.

Where'd the original drummer go?

The let him go in 2013 when he had to take paternity leave for his twins. The split was not amicable. Personally, I think Mike Malinin drum patterns and fill creativity elevated the GGDs sound from '98 - '13, and I think him leaving shows in their live performances the last 10 years. But I love their songs. They've meant so much to me, so it's not ment as criticism - just opinion.
