Good advice for off grid living, Living the dream in Montana, 406 life
What is it like living in Montana off grid? Well you can say with confidence that its not for the frail. But the good news is that even if you are are the frail type , this life style will toughen you up if you allow the process to work. Many come and leave, some stay, and there isnt really a predictive formula to tell who can make it and who cant. It just seems to boil down to the dedication one puts into the process like I said. Adaptability is king here....

Wouldn't it be nice , if snow is exportable commodity in demand...I still don't get fighting 4-5 feet of snow (besides attending a roof of a house and immediate surrounding , to get access to wood/utility sheds and vehicles) on a mile long mountain road. Wouldn't it be better to go over the snow , instead of moving tons of it (over and over again) ? There are ( I saw it on TV - so , it must be true) light vehicles with tracks (like , what they are calling "side by side" , on which you can attach/detach sets of tracks and you can use it on the regular road) , or snow scooter would be just fine...I understand that those cost money , but it should pay for itself in a couple of years purely by fuel cost savings. Or , community of neighbors can join resources and buy a proper machine for the job (used , second hand one) , like front loader and plow (which can be used in summers too , for repairing said roads) and everybody can use it as needed ; though , this idea might not be liked by everyone ...

There are people up here with snow cats and they really work nice. The problem with packing the snow on the roads is when it melts it makes a wonderful mess.

@@veggitarianredneck Invent a snow boat for spring meltdown 😁 Hovercraft is probably out of question , because of the wind - it might put you in the next county (or a state) and there are some canyons around...Sorry for the bad jokes- it is easy for me on 65+F temperature around here , with fruit trees blooming...Anyway , I'm glad to see you posting something after a while and it 's clear now why were you so busy. Though , in my mind , I was under impression that you are developing close relations with a heat source in your house , hunkered down and that storms may have cut you off of the internet.

I have a question for a PMA I am using a 12 SI alternator with N 52 permanent magnets. I have 10 of them does it matter how many magnets I use
@veggitarianredneck
@veggitarianredneck Жыл бұрын
Yes it does. Because the magnetic poles must line up with the phases. If it's three phase then the magnets must be divisible with the number of coils in each phase. For example...if you have 10 magnets then this would only work with either 2 or 5 coils per phase.

@@veggitarianredneck it’s a 12 SI I took the voltage regulator out and the windings have three terminals left. I was going to go three phase 50 foot to a voltage regulator so would nine magnets work that’s three magnets for each phase. There are thousands of videos on PMA’s and how to build them, but this one part nobody ever explains my thoughts were I was looking at what the original rotor made up, which would be six prongs on each side so I figured I would have to have 12 magnets.
