3 out takes from an impartial Saffa, 1. Play Plummer and Tamaiti Williams from the start 2. Develop or find a Charismatic captain that the players want to play for. 3. Develop a bench that makes an impact

Cut the dead wood and bring in the new generation en mass. They are hungry and don't carry the baggage of the last six years. Ratima and Satiti were the best on the field. They are young and they want to live out their lifelong dream of making an impact on the ABs. The older guys are too damn comfortable sans Taylor. Edit: DESIRE and PASSION are important ingredients in test rugby

Why are the Abs always lucky when they have a narrow win? and the opposition has a well deserved win if they win by a few points? So what will you call SA who only managed three one-point victories in the WC last year?

I have slowly acquired respect for Harry Plummer. His improvement, with the Blues, has been extremely good - such that I rate him as a starter. This comment relates to the rushing D situation, and Mark I do agree that we were let off a bit in the 1st half - I think Harry has the process to take on the rushing D... I have seen him do that. DMac is proving to be a disappointment at this level, bench him as cover for 10 & 15. Maybe he can show more against a tired opposition - if not, well I would not persist with him. Reece and Talea I think are not on point at the level, this year - It seems very clear that Caleb Clarke is very capable at this level. Reiko was doing not much more than has done previously, but he was permitted to run riot. Which was permitted - he and Jordie do need to handle rushing D better; crashing is well and good it creates momentum but I expect more. Jordon probed the centre once before pulling that switch, so he saw it possible - that was smart. Sititi was excellent given his experience. The bench was not good enough. I dunno Mark, this failure to complete. is a huge concern. Where it it based?

Here’s my perspective: 1. New Zealand tends to overexert in the first half, leaving them gassed by the second. That’s understandable, but the bench needs to come on earlier and make an impact to sustain momentum. 2. Anton Leinart-Brown isn’t cutting it. His predictable sidesteps don’t pose a threat to the opposition. He lacks the aura and intimidation needed in the backline. 3. TJ is past his prime, and keeping him offers no long-term value. It’s time to move on. 4. Ardie should come off the bench. While many may disagree, he’d make a bigger difference as a finisher. Starting, he adds value-but from the bench, he can change games. 5. NZ needs a stronger ball carrier at 12, similar to SA’s DDA or Ireland’s Aki. Jordie just doesn’t have that power game to consistently break the advantage line. 6. McKenzie is a brilliant 15, but at flyhalf, he lacks the physicality to take it to the line and open up space for the backs. Other teams have playmakers like Pollard who can do both, and NZ needs that too. 7. NZ needs to stick with the Caleb Clarke style of wing-big, strong, and fast. Physicality has always been a weapon, and right now, Clarke is the only one bringing that X factor in an otherwise smaller backline. 8, Reece and Telea aren’t cutting it. They keep stepping inside instead of challenging defenders one-on-one. Wings need to back themselves in those situations. 9. Sam Cane-just stop. Only NZ fans seem to see the value in him, but his defensive praise doesn’t hold up when he’s missing key tackles that lead to tries. There are better ball carriers who could fill his spot. 10. Finally, the Jacobson hype-I don’t get it. He’s not physical enough, and NZ has better flanks waiting to step up. It’s time to use them. 11. Younger Super Rugby players, like Sititi, have really proven their worth. NZ needs more big bodies like Hoskins on the field earlier to match that physicality from the start. TL;DR: NZ puts too much energy into the first half and needs to use the bench earlier. Anton Leinart-Brown and TJ are underperforming, while younger Super Rugby players like Sititi are shining. Ardie should come off the bench for more impact, and NZ needs stronger ball carriers at 12. McKenzie should stay at 15, and NZ should stick with big, physical wings like Caleb Clarke. Sam Cane and Jacobson aren’t adding enough value, and NZ has better options in the flanks.

The man they call Razor is a complete buffoon. His carefully cultivated media personality is just that: according to inside reports, he does zero technical coaching, and is basically a glorified motivational speaker, with Scott Hansen functioning as defacto head coach. After all the hype and public fanfare, he turns out to be an assistant in his own setup.

As ABs fans we have more questions than answers for this side.We are now seeing a trend in the last 20min of the 2nd half,ABs can't score points.Are they running out of ideas or running out of gas?Who is the Coach,what are they coaching?Is Scotty the right man to captain the side? Surely some of these players are on shaky ground cos they are not performing, the bench players are not making an impact compare to the Aussies and credit to the Wallabies for coming back in second half,they will only improve from that performance. We have yet to see an 80min performance from the ABs. Time to give young players more games.When experienced players like Sam Cane put in a feeble attempt to tackle which resulted in a try then it time for him to retire. Scott Robertson is starting to sound like a clown,maybe the circus is the right place for him.

Don't miss Ritchie too much: NZ has a ready supply of showboat fly-halfs who can't kick goals, can't reliably make clearances that find touch, who get steamrolled in defence, and have no idea how to manage the game from first reciever. He was in the team every time the Boks (or the Argies, or the French, or the Irish) beat the ABs in recent years, so the idea he would've been a game changer this year is fanciful.

Hi Mark. I'll take the win for now and I'm sure the team also do. Forward passes and not making the last passes were the difference in the S.A. games and forward passes the scoreboard outcome for this one. It gives me the indication that NZ ... with more games under their belt ... minimizing " unforced errors " and getting no cards at all will be playing that winning rugby that NZ and Razor's Crusaders were known for. Yes it will be challenging against tougher opposition but the S.A. games shows that it's possible. The midfield performed better but I still hope to see the ALB and Proctor midfield combination again. A relaxed and more confident team will also play better rugby. Good to see you respond in Afrikaans as well. 👌👌👌

You could argue a case for TJP saving the game on more than one occasion. True that he had his box kick charged down but they were still able to get the ball out past the 10m mark. At that stage they still had 15 on the field and were defending a lineout 40m out. Not the worst defensive situation to be in. What directly started the meltdown was Vaa'i tackling Pietsch without the ball and then as a result lying half dead on the ground leaving a glaring gap for Salakaia-Loto to stroll through.

I remember with the earlier abs teams you always felt like they had enough resilience and temperament that they could overcome anything so the way up to the last minute. That was almost a gesture of the ABs and that was because of the psychological strength of the leaders. They didn't panic, they played their game as usual. Now we don't have that and i think it's the same thing. Our leaders aren't cutting it on the field.

It's a tough one with Dmac, on one side of the coin he's probably the best attacking 10 we've ever seen, on the other he lacks the tactical/strategic kicking a 10 needs to control a game. Case and point, I think around the 70th minute there was a penalty/free kick on ABs goal line, close to the posts by about 5m. He cleared the ball a whopping 22m, in my eyes that is unacceptable for a 10. That kick should have gone a minimum of 40m, ideally 60m. I think Jordie has to start taking the kicks. I think BB struggles with the same problem so I don't see him being any solution at 10. I will add that I really dislike the dragging of DMAC on socials, people are calling for him to be dropped blah blah, the guy is electric, he was instrumental in most of the tries and other than maybe 1 botched pass to Sevu the rest were all 50/50, and it's ridiculous to be knocking the guy for not making those. He did miss a crucial tackle as well but overall he had a pretty good game bar a couple blips. Also he's still learning that role, the previous coaching group made no attempts to blood new 10s to the role and it's showing now with the lack of experience at 10, and multiple other roles like locks and 9/10.

Another meaty vlog Mark. The run away train is about to derail & the prospect (I hope I'm wrong) in the up coming Nth-hem tour is a pear-shaped project gone horribly wrong on a late night out. BB needs to control the game at flyhalf + Plumber or Gatland as substitute - borh exhibit mental stamina under immense pressure. This is a grounding formula that Rassi has stuck to in this position though no other player in world rugby excellence is more feared than BB's calculated attaching prowess from that position. DMAC fails in this department though that will develop in his game however he is a magician from fullback. He is very young but needs to be the frame with a dominant forward pack that we haven't seen for several years now. We need some muscle & spoilers up front - Bakkies Botha, Nelson Asofa Solomona or Lewis Moody type characters. In an ideal world you'd only have ZZ'Brook & M'Jones, our last great pedigree of flanks. We did have another fearless monster in resent years 'Liam Squire' but cancelled due to mental illness. Exactly what's needed now. Clarke is in the best form of his career & this year in particular he is undoubtedly stella in performances with limited ball. Would like to see Naholo in the mix perhaps on the other side at 14. He is in sensational form. Jordan is gaining confidence from injury & right up their withworld class counter attack-ability but also fantastic is Ruban Love. What a prospect. Instead of counting hairs on his head Razor ought to be counting every mite in the lavy. I agree with you regarding Ratima however when you watch woeful NZ U2's & Hotham's brief ABs appearance he has a knack of meddling with the forwards to gain momentum. This together with patiently choosing his moment is standalone & something the ABs need desperately. This is his unique gamesmanship rather than pretentious rhubarb as displayed by TJ. Ratima has fantastic clearance & it's still uncertain how his game will develop but he is interesting indeed in the fold. I would've liked to have seen fielded in the backs first choice in this game Hotham 9, BB 10, JB 12 - magic combo, Proctor 13, Clarke 11, Nahoho 14, WJ 15 & bench Ratima, DMAC & Bryce Heem. And, I think all these guys have straight hair cuts!

@Buster62 Ай бұрын
That game had it all. The ABs were very lucky to hang at the end, and many of their recurring issues are not being resolved. They include: Poor game management under pressure -- especially in the final 20; poor individual decision-making; inaccurate passes going astray; uncontestable tactical kicking; poor discipline leading to yellow cards in the final 15; a lack of scoring in the final 20; keeping gassed front rowers out there beyond 60 minutes; and a bench that is being poorly used, missing cohesion and lacks impact. Razor's honeymoon is coming to an end and fingers are starting to be pointed at individual players and coaches. I agree with Mark, that despite some new faces, many of the legacy issues from the Foster era have not been addressed...most notably, the selection of players who are not in form and/or being selected out of their best position. To go through the team: I have no issues with the AB's current front row, especially now that DeGroot is fit again. One position that we do need to work on is hooker. Taylor will be 36 when the RWC rolls around...so we need to develop another world class hooker. Aumua and Bell are small by today's standards, Samisoni Taukei'aho is still recovering from his Achilles injury and will need to find form, and I don't see any large specialist hookers (1.85m+ and 115kgs+) coming through who could make the international grade. Are there some onside-flankers that could be beefed up or lightweight props who could be developed to fill the roll? As for the second row. With the development of Tupou Vai'i this year, most punters seem to think we have found the solution for who should partner Scooter going forward, but IMO he plays more like a disruptive 6 (disruptive lineout jumper and breakdown menace -- like a Maro Etoji or PSDT) than a genuine 5. It think that given his strengths and stature (1.98m and 118kgs), 6 is where he should be playing most of his rugby while backing up at lock. As for tall locking timber, Darry (2.03m and 110kgs) is developing well as an athletic and mobile number 5, and Josh Lord (2.02m and 106kgs) is progressing, but both need to add some muscle and heft to lock the scrum. Next year could see the introduction of Fabian Holland (2.04m and 124kgs). With Vai'i able to cover lock and players like Tuipolotu around, I think we will have a decent cadre of world-class locks in 1-2 years time. We might even try Tosi (1.96m and 144kgs) there as a bomb squad raging bull...much like how the 1.94m 149kgs Posolo Tuilagi is used for France (did I hear someone say 7:1 split?). As for the loosies, Razor still has not found a consistent balanced trio. IMO, placing Vai'i at 6 with Sititi at 8 and Savea at 7 (which better suits his natural instinct as a hunter/fetcher) could solve this problem. Blackadder can cover all three positions as a starter or bomb squad type of player...much like a more powerful version of Kwagga Smith. For the end of year tour, Razor should be thinking of introducing Peter Lakai to the big stage to cover 7 and be schooled by Savea. Samipeni Finau or Cullen Grace should be developed as a tallish blindside and 8 options. Grace was an outstanding lineout disruptor before he suffered his string of injuries and looks to be coming into form with Canterbury in the NPC. Samipeni could be the next Shannon Frizell (2023 version) or Jerome Kaino if he learns to keep his focus and discipline. Sam Cane could be used off the bench to shut down the inside and lead the ABs bomb squad in a 6:2 split. As for the backs, Roigard, Ratima and Hotham look to be the three going forward into the end of year tour and 2025...though look out for Dylan Pledger to make a quick rise through the ranks at the Highlanders. DMac has not performed consistently as a starting first-five at top international level. He's an awesome talent but not able to employ his full range of skills against sides that cut down his space and time. In those situations, the ABs need a more direct first five who is better able to manage field position and ball retention...things that DMac has struggled with. In such situations Barrett would be a better option, though the ABs need to find someone else for the future. Harry Plummer looks to be a place holder, though he could surprise if given a chance to start. Other options are to try someone young and with a great skill set like Josh Jacomb or give Rueben Love a shot at first five, which is where many believe -- himself included, and as good as he is at fullback -- could be his best position. In the centers: Jordie is a solid second five, though fullback is still his best position. Reiko struggles with his confidence at center and should be moved to the wing or bench (when we do a 5:3 split). ALB is solid on both sides of the ball without being spectacular, and is more a second-five than a center. Billy Proctor looks to have the goods at center but hasn't been given much opportunity (hopefully he will this week -- in front of his home crowd). As for a future second five, Riley Higgins has been tearing it up in the NPC and single-handily ripped the BoP to shreds this weekend in a close-fought overtime victory for Wellington. I'd love to see him paired with his Hurricanes partner Proctor, and working outside someone like Josh Jacomb or Rueben Love at first five on the end of year tour. Others that could be tried at center include Dallas McCloud. The wings for me are settled as Clarke and Jordan with Reiko as cover. Talea is a great runner but he's been found out as poor under the high ball. Reece needs to find his form or be replaced by the dazzling up and comer, Macca Springer. As for fullback, lets try Rueben Love there this weekend with Barrett or Plummer at first five. Frankly, Jordie should be back there covered by any one of Love, Barrett (Beauden), DMac or Jordan...but the coaches have him cemented at second-five. As for the coaches, Razor and Scott Hansen (in particular) need to up their game. This week in Wellington I would start Williams, Taylor, Lomax, Darry, Barrett, Vai'i, Sititi, Savea, Ratima, Barrett, Clarke, Barret, Proctor, Jordan, Love with Hotham/TJ, DMac, ALB/Rieko, DeGroot, Aumua, Tosi/Newell, Tuipolotu and Blackadder coming off the pine no later than 60 minutes in. This week we need to see an 85-minute effort (haka and overtime included).

I have to take a step back here, after reading a bunch of comments. A lot about the pointless 2nd half but I think theres bigger concerns than not scoring in the last 20mins. Yes we played poorly for 40mins in comparison to the first but down to 13 against resurgent opposition, ill take the W. Whats more concerning is the lack of bench impact. Timing is crucial. Plus it's being used defensively rather than to uptempo the game and take advantage of tiring bodies. Captaincy is 2nd. Im getting Randall/Blackadder vibes from Scooter. Theres no galvanization, no focus, no impact. And 3rd for the love of God play Beaudy at 10. DMac has had more than enough rope, let him rest. Let Barrett run the cutter, stick with the back 3, bring Plummer on with 20 for actual game time.

We played WB’s back into form with our poor discipline. Terrible passing game Dmac, tho his pace and back up created the opportunities. Even at 31-14 we should’ve taken the long kicks at goal cos we still did not have control at that point and never did in the game. This was more about AB’s lack of mental strength - and WB’s have their confidence and cohesion back thanks to it. There’s no growth in AB game, unless they get their discipline in order - decision making, execution, white line fever finishing, repeat soft penalties, impulsive card offenses, poor kick strategy and poor kick option taking - kicks from base (lead to WB 2nd try) plus up and under’s that give away ball. We won’t get to control matches if we keep kicking possession back to teams forced to keep it hand because we established a lead - that's a large reason why we’re not scoring in q4 - fear of losing, is winning over being brave in backing our dna ball in hand game. Keep hold of it and make them do the defending, or risk penalties trying to turn us over on the ground if good enough ie. they earn it, we don’t gift kick ball back to them.
@clarke1319
@clarke1319 Ай бұрын
"should’ve taken the long kicks at goal" - Yes at 52min they had a penalty 40m out and 20m in - a high percentage kick. That would have taken it out to 3 tries ahead rather than 2 and a penalty. "being brave in backing our dna ball in hand game" - which is what is getting them into trouble. They only tried to narrow up when they went down to 13. They simply do not have the discipline to stay urgent on the ball carrier for long periods. It's not a new thing. We have a completely different coaching set up and the same issue continues.

I feel like the collapse happened even before the half way mark. And what that says to me is what I've thought before. The solution is not changing who's on the bench or having a 'bomb squad'. Its a leadership deficit on the field in my opinion thats one. Two they need totally new cattle in the team. Cos its a temperament issue thats causing the collapse of the team in the second half, not the inadequacies of impact off the bench.

Have been mulling over the past 3 days as why the ABs have been ineffectual and for me it comes down to 2 major issues - Firstly DMAc at #10. DMAC thrives on chaos and fractured opposition play but we need a 10 that is tactically minded and knows when to run-pass-kick- He is no Dan Carter or Johnny Wilkinson. I still think BB is best at the moment at #10 - I think we forget just how good he was until he got shuffled around when Mounga came on to the scene. Having BB in for a while would allow a safer transition of Plummer or Perofeta. It would have been interesting to see who Leon MacDonald would have chosen at #10, and perhaps this was a major sticking point for Leons tenure. The second major problem is Scott as Captain - he just doesn't seem to have the tactical thinking required and the ability to bring the team together when play is not going the ABs way. Team announcement soon - I still see the same-ish team but maybe a ALB-Proctor pairing.

While it was nice to see Reiko break his tryless streak, I am not convinced he has rediscovered his form or the confidence needed to continue his starting role as center for the ABs. I am a fan who is old enough to remember some of the great AB centers like Bruce Robertson, Joe Stanley, Frank Bunce, Tana Umanga and Conrad Smith...and have read about some of the earlier players like Bert Cooke. I also remember how good Reiko was when he started his ABs career on the wing in 2016-2018. At that time, he was one of, if not the hottest attacking prospect in the game. The next few years however, exposed an Achilles' heel...his confidence. Reiko has apparently struggled with confidence since he was a high schooler thrust into the New Zealand Sevens under Gordon Teitjens -- though he managed to escape most of the vitriol dished out after their failed Rio Olympics campaign in 2016. However, since becoming a professional player and AB, lapses in confidence have been a real problem for him. These lapses first became apparent in 2019, resulting in him playing a supporting role for the ABs during the 2019 World Cup campaign. As soon as his form slumped and fans and media (especially social media) started to criticize parts of his game he began to fall into crises of confidence. This pattern persists until today. When Reiko's confidence goes you can see how it affects his game...and see it in his eyes. His head space isn't right, his focus goes and he doesn't seem to understand where he is on the field at times. He drifts in defense (making up for it with his speed and ability to scramble), is often static and behind play on attack, and therefore unable to make good decisions and execute accurate passes because he is not in the flow of the game and playing instinctively. He looks like he's watching the game unfold in front of him...unable to get in the flow of what's developing around him. While he was on the wing this problem could be resolved by getting him to hold his width on defense and maintain enough space to avoid the touchline on attack. However, moving him to center has only made this problem worse...because he is there to not only manage his space and game, but to act as a second pivot, managing the game for his outside backs and backfield...seeing and creating space for others and then executing the skills needed to put them into that space and send them away. When he is having trouble appreciating his own position and space on the field, how is he supposed to also do that for others? I feel for Reiko...he seems a genuinely humble and intelligent young man who desperately wants to do his best for the team but is struggling with his on-field confidence. Razor, Scott Hansen and Scooter must be aware of this. Given the length of his current crisis, I worry for his wellbeing…and so should his coaches and captain. And that is why they should be "managing" him (not just as a player but as a person) by relieving some of the pressure he is under and putting him back on the wing or bench, or letting him go to the NPC to rediscover his confidence at that level.
@dmazingi

Yeah i really disagreed with razor in the post match conference. He kept saying: "we found a way". In my opinion the wallabies just ran out of time. Five more minutes they would have won. This wasn't a demonstration of resilience from that perspective. It was just poor from the ABs. A snazzy, amazing attack doesn't mean anything if the defence is poor and there is a second half collapse. Still think our obsession with attaching rugby is proving ill advised. Attack doesn't win tests. Defence does. And it's been proven in this game as well as in countless ABs games over the years against the best opposition. Id rather trade some attacking flair for some of the other stuff. I'd definitely make that trade.

No impact coming off the bench, again - Really worrying signs. I think Razor has to do what Rassie did to fix this problem, especially with the forwards and go with a 6-2 split. If you take a look how Rassie uses his bench - He actually doesn't start what most would consider his 1st choice players...Kwagga, Marx and Kitshoff. Think Razor needs to do this - Especially with the front row!! The subs looked absolutely burnt out and flat. Also they have to consider allowing overseas players(esp. Rieko had a good game but 1 good game doesn't erase the last few games. Razor needs to try Proctor on...even as JB's partner since they play together at Canes. Again I have never been so disappointed with the ABs last 20minutes - score no points!!! Razor must face reality AB teams of old went for the jugular even in the lead!!! Razor's main aim is to win games not build towards the RWC 2027, it is very frustrating. This is the first ABs side ever that takes their foot of the tigers neck,historically the ABs would go for the jugular. Ratima's growth is amazing but that means that DMAC will remain as his halves partner. Jordie Barrett should play 15, Jordan had a solid outing but him and Clarke compliment each other so well as the wings. I would like to know what Razor instructs his bench,as a collective and individuals, because most of the subs look confused as to what it is they should do once they enter the game. The wallaby bench outperformed ours, BPA, LSL even Mcdermott performed well. My big takeaway is we will lose 3/4 games in November!

Most of what we did well was due to the weird approach the Wallabies started the game with, but once they got out of neutral on d they were more than matching us. In fact, if they'd started properly they probably would have won it. This does nothing to dispel the urgent need for radical change in positioning and personel next week. If the game went on for just a bit longer I recon the Wallabies would've taken the win. I also hope the ABs and Aussies are secretly supporting the Boks against Argentina tonight because of our tri nation history.

@groenrizla2513 Hola, thank you for the comment. This AB team is struggling to convince us long term followers that they have what it takes to compete with the upper echelons of world rugby.

Bro NZ supporters are horrendous. Not sure we deserve the ABs... So freaking negative. This year under a new coach we've played England (5th in the world; lost to World Champs in the semis by 1 point), we've played Argentina (6th in the world; just beat the World Champs-Pumas are no joke. They have arrived and I am absolutely stoked about it) and we've played South Africa (Consecutive World Champions, 1st in the world until their loss to the Pumas). Whenever ABs score tries it's not because of our deadly attack, it's always the other team's 'woeful defense'. The game was close, and I'm really happy it was because I agree that Robinson hasn't got the team right yet. I'm also happy for Australia that they found the grit and determination to come back in the last 20 mins and put us under the pump. I really hope it is the beginning of their rebirth as a team. But let's be clear: it was only by inches that the ABs didn't put 60 points on the Wallabies this weekend. There are some truly brilliant players emerging in the squad. Ratima, Satititi and Vaai were massive. For all the Ioane haters... he brutalised the game line every time he touched the ball. The man was everywhere all game. Clarke is looking deadly, fast, powerful and balanced. D-Mac didn't miss a kick. Taylor looks like a man possessed. Savea is slowly regaining his form and looked a bit more like himself this game. Jordan was much more impactful this game at full back. There are many signs we are on the right track. That yellow card against ALB came out of nowhere whilst the freakin Aussie Half Back was screaming at the referee all game and he even smacked Sam Cane right on the head in front of the refs and he got TWO talkings to from the Ref... So yes, we have major things to work on to get back to where we want to be (that number one spot) but damn, a bit of patience and support while we get there wouldn't go amiss.

Yes, like you and a lot of NZer's we need to bring in new YOUNG players. The current senior AB's are not doing the job. The bigger question to me is, is there player power/contracts that are stopping this. A change of players is needed, which we can see, then so can the coaches, they are just like us, SO why??? We need to STOP, this shoehorning of players into the team, because they are good, play the best player in his position only. The only point l disagree on is Jordan is a 15, give him better 12,13. IF Jordan is very good at Super level, then why is he average at test level.

As a Saffa who watches all the ABs games, the thing I have noticed is maybe a silly thing, but the ABs are not enjoying their rugby. Go back to Steve Hansens days.... the players smiled and laughed and encouraged one another. Now its gripe bitch and moan. Its not fun any more. Coaches are more worried about themselves than they are about their boys.

Barrett is not a captain. McKenzie is not a flyhalf. Robertson is not a coach. Same old, same old. If the Wallabies are within 20 at halftime in Wellington next weekend they will have the belief to take the game out. Positional changes, new younger blood required across the board.

Just as an outsider, this was not a good game of rugby. The Aussies are just not there, and the All blacks probably played their worst game of the season. I think Dmac is not the answer at 10 and Ardie should probably captain the All Blacks. I am South African and though it is nice to win a few tests against the old foes, it feels a bit empty with Australia being so bad and the All blacks searching for their identity - I have always said that the All blacks have an advantage because they keep things so simple and just want to play rugby. I have no doubt that New Zealand will be strong again. I am concerned for the Aussies...

Razor is clueless and it showed. ABs got the jump on an average Wallabies defensive system early which made us look like superstars. The lack of accuracy and some concerning defensive lapses in the 2nd half was a concern. Razor can't see it, but McKenzie is a bench impact player only. Reiko is a very predictable 13 but he must have something on Razor to keep getting selected. TJ has to be let go now... too slow. Ardie was trying hard in the 2nd half but he isn't bending the line as a number 8 must be able to do. His carries are wasting good ball because of this. Was surprised the AB pack didn't dominate at scrum time but all credit to the Wallaby pack and the work Mike Cron has done with them. Hoping to see Razor make some brave selections for next week, but i agree with Mark, he will stay loyal with this group which shows his lack of forward planning by sticking with guys like Cane and Perenara who are leaving soon.

All Blacks defence is terrible. It's been bad all year. Every time the opposition gets into our 22 you can almost be assured that they will score a try, often soft tries too. Seems like system problems as these guys aren't bad tacklers. The complete opposite to SA who defend their line with so much intensity and always seem to have the required numbers to cover the attack.

I'm sorry but Scott Robertson is out of his depth at test level, regardless of the fast start. He plays people out of position, stick with people that should not be there and brought up a sub in the 70th minute... I don't buy this rebuild excuse, most of the players have decent test matches under the belt, yet they didn't know what to do in the second half. This win, which they barely managed, probably saved Robertson his job. Excluding South Africa, Robertson has been the poorest of the other 3 coaches for me.
