It's more likely that the only reason the witches sealed away the Beasts was because they were afraid that those Cookies would turn on them, given their powers. The witches may have only left the cookies on Earthbread alone as they liked being praised as holy deities, hence they let Earthbread have its heroes.

i look at the comment section and see people being confused about the witches being good or bad and i just want to say-- that is how mythology works, doesn't it? it is a matter of perspective, a matter of the time period it was written then. if we pretend that the story about the Beasts were written by the cookies who were saved by the Witches (say, the fairy cookies), then ofc they would revere them as benevolent, mighty beings. same thing as if we pretend that the story about Witches eating cookies were written by those who has seen such traumatic acts (like White Lily), then they would see the Witches as selfish, cruel beings who are a glutton for cookie flesh. and this is my favorite thing about CRK Lore, if i'm being honest. it feels real and well-thought out. they continue to expand the history and mythology in a way that has a lot of depth to it. the mythology hints to the culture or perspectives of who might have "written" them.

I am interested to see how the fallen cookies react to the ancient given that they quite literally have parts of their souls with them. But also since its hinted that "shadow milk" is related to pure vanilla im curious to see if the flower staff can control more then just a healing aura, or maybe im thinking of it too hard that the ancients still wield some of the powers that the fallen had.

Now I feel like...originally, White Lily and DE cookie are really two completely different cookies After the dark flour war, DE cookie was also seriously injured (possibly losing her dough aka body), but was not completely wiped out and still existed in a subconscious form. Because WL represents purity, innocence and fragility (keywords that make us think of "should be protected") but at the same time, she's also the one who seeks truth and freedom by herself (we have the saying "Nothing stings like the truth" and in reality "freedom" always comes at the cost of the most pain and crisis that an individual may go through -> She has never been protected and on the contrary, she coincidentally is always the one facing the heaviest dangers herself) So I guess, perhaps when WL fell into the pot while in a crisis, and with her natural purity, her dough actually was possessed by DE (the purest things when weakened are also the easiest to be contaminated), rather than she was turning into DE cookie This may have reasonably explained why we can meet Lily at the beginning of the story but with losing memory and suddenly disappear (it seems like that's just her soul or a little echo of her soul jam, and yh ofc her dough currently being used by DE) Also explained why she could easily lie to fool Pitaya Dragon (has the appearance of WL, but inside is already DE) About DE cookie herself, there's a whole sky of interesting things surrounding her. If we remember back, her thinking is radical and revolutionary but at the same time, it can be considered somewhat speculative. ruined and distorted. Perhaps her own story will be closely related to the 5 fallen heroes (not simply wanting to ally for strength) And not hurry in mentioning the truth of the witches. I always considered her appearance during the cutscenes as the story itself being passed down, no one knew except Pure Vanilla that WL was DE so the cookie legend includes white lily during the fight against DE. Though also what the previous commenter said DE can cast her WL form as an illusion, though why she would do this to fool her former friends is unknown. I personally interpret that WL being there during the fight is just the legend being told, if I’m remembering correctly I think the heroes actually mention WL disappearing before the final fight, but I could be wrong/mixing it up with my own hc

This might be just me thinking too deep but in my opinion I think it has more to do with the perception of the witch by the cookies like how dark enchantress sees them as evil but the other cookies saw them as good because they sealed the beasts but instead the reality could be that the beasts were just like dark enchantress who rebelled against the witches and got corrupted and the cookies thought the beasts were evil but they just wanted to defeat the witches.

The first story is interesting because it's obviously pure legend - it doesn't make sense with the known history of the world. The guild museum has loads of relics of 'caveperson' style cookie civilisations, which indicate the cookies have lived and evolved for thousands of years. The story also only has one cookie surviving, which cannot be true, and refers to a single batch of cookies, as opposed to a whole time known as 'the chaos of iron and flame'. But what that means is that a) the witches are barely portrayed as evil outside of this legend, excepting the one image of them in the opening at 5:24, but b) something must have happened for all of cookiekind to turn them into a scary story, and I presume that's to do with either the soul jams, the beasts, or what happened after that.

Yeah, not gonna lie, kind of lost. I want to follow along but the story of the witches was confusing. So the witches were good or bad? I thought they were bad that's why the cookies wanted to run away from them and exact revenge. But at the same time, they didn't want the land plunged into chaos so they sealed away the fallen heroes? Unless this is an entirely new set of witches. Maybe I just skipped story too many times.

I have a theory that the 3 witches that made the first cookies were evil. Afterwards it says they left the cookie dough, so i believe those 3 left to do other things. And other witches came in and decided to populate earth bread. Then when white lily saw the witches eating the cookies, they didnt move nor react. Because they were just regular cookies and not cookies with life powder. White lily couldnt tell the difference of regular cookies and alive cookies so she just assumed all the witches wanted to eat the cookies.
