Is the Honda Shadow A Good Beginner Motorcycle? Mrs. TWOWHEELD gets out on the Honda Shadow 750. This is only her second time riding on the street! As I follow her from on the Road King, we chat a little about if she thinks the Honda Shadow Spirit 750 a good beginner motorcycle. Is a 750 too big for a beginner? We go for a slow speed cruise and get my wife's input on her thoughts of riding motorcycle. Find out what she says! Thank You. The video is fantastic. I understand nerves, I bought a Honda shadow and was going to ride it after my MSF course. I failed the course because I did not practice. I have been cruising around the back roads for about a month now and my confidence is growing with practice. I have another MSF class in December and I know I won’t have any trouble. It’s really neat to see you on the shadow and then see how confident and comfortable you have become on the Heritage. It seems the learning curve is tied to confidence and the ability to relax. Thanks, Troy. I bet you will do great! Riding is a lot of being relaxed and riding within comfort levels. So confidence goes a long ways. As long as you don’t let that confidence turn into complacency. It’s been a fun process watching my wife go from not riding when I go out, to riding on the pillion, to riding the Shadow, and eventually getting her Heritage. Inspiring video. My wife and I started the course but her anxiety got the better of her. But she wants to try again. Might have to pass this on to her as I plan on getting a shadow spirit myself.

Love it Mr Twowh...to see your wife on the Shadow,she's doing great..calm voice and hint's..same for me when i started ride with my mate..anoxiety,thinking in hundreds'stalling,heavy breathing..and overcome the speed/airflow presure..using the gearshift at the right moment,and slow clutchhandling,and ease the gastrhottle..but if you come in the safetysone of your self ' its a wonderfull feeling..and you will faster than you think..

This was a blast recording this video! This is the exact bike I am learning on and it is so easy to ride!!! I bought a new Harley after I got my M endorsement and have kept riding my Honda instead of the Harley. I recommend this bike for beginners.

Been on bikes for 50 years. Love my ACE Shadow (except for the speedo), not just a beginners' bike. Stay alert, relax, and have fun. Get lots of seat time, you'll figure it out.

I like Mrs.TwoWheeld's white HJC F70 👍 I got the Stone Gray but didn't realize that not only was it gray but it also has a light textured finish. It makes it kind of a pain to clean the bugs off. I like the dual vlog format and look forward to seeing more in the future. On a side note - that 2009 Honda Shadow Aero I found a while back is still for sale. I might just have to check on it again as the riding season comes to a close and maybe make an offer on it.

Thanks! I am glad she went with the white as well! It stands out nice! They didn’t have a large in white, or else I may have had white as well. It’s kind of nice for us to be different, though. 😆 So yours must be the matte style? That doesn’t sound like fun not being able to get bugs off easy. These clean up pretty well. Thank you for the feedback on the dual vlogs! I am looking forward to doing many more to come, and I think Mrs.TWOWHEELD secretly likes it as well. 😂 It would be a nice cruiser for ya! This is fun to watch. Looks like Mrs. T is on the same timeline as me. I took the class last weekend and just took my Shadow out for the 4th time yesterday. It felt much more comfortable than the previous times. I only stalled a couple of times. :) Be safe and enjoy the ride!

That’s awesome to read this! The first night, I stalled a lot. The second time wasn’t nearly as frequent. 😅 Like I said in the video, I just have to go! I worry, though, that if I give too much throttle, the bike will come out from under me. But, really, I know it won’t because I’m not that aggressive with the throttle!

My bike has an idle screw which I sometimes adjust depending on certain weather Conditions- by adjusting my idol it gives me more power at slow speed maneuvers- also by adjusting my idle screw to a little bit less gives me great practice time with my clutch control if I should run the bike a little bit leaner

I could see pros and cons to it. If you get too low, it could want to stall on you. I don’t even know where mine is set, but it’s a nice blend of giving it some good sound when idling, and not having to worry about stalling. After I put in the stage 2 carb kit, I don’t even need to use the choke to start it. So that adds to it a bit as well.

We didn’t record the first time on the street. We just wanted her to be able to focus on riding, and not worry about the cameras being on. It was pretty much the same as the second time out as you see here. 😉 We did do a first ride in her Heritage video, however.

It can be a little scary. It happens to us all. Just maintain the bike and pull in the clutch and fire back up and away you go. 😆

How would it be for a beginner moving up from a TW200 57 year old woman 5'6" does the bike feel heavy .

There is a little bit of weight to it, but nothing like a big touring bike. I would see if any of your dealerships have a Honda Shadow of some sort and just throw a leg over and see how it is pulling it up off the side stand. You won’t notice the weight when moving, so getting a feel parked will give you an idea. At your height, you should be able to plant both your feet, so that should give you good stability. There are a lot of factors that can go into giving you a better answer. I would keep an eye open and hop on one sometime before you buy one to see how it feels. Hope that helps some! That’s sweet you are going to look at one. I think you will be okay on it. You will want to sit on it and have someone hold it up for you so you can put both feet on the pegs and hands on the grips to make sure you are comfortable with it in that manner as well. Then with both feet down, get an idea of the weight of it while you are straddling the seat/tank. It’s not an overly heavy motorcycle, but there is some weight there. If you remember, come back and let us know your thoughts after you have a chance to look at it. I would like to know if you purchased it and how comfortable you felt. 😊
