I lived almost 14 years in MA USA, 2005 at 2018 when I went deported to my country with only the clothes of the body. 14years of my life dumped to the trash at this moment, I lost all I had ,some good money on the DCU bank, many different types os eletronics and instruments, many iphones, ipds, expensive game computer. too many tools, but my 92 caddilac civil STS and 2003 honda shadow ACE broken my heart and my soul to many pieces. 4 years later I don´t know how I´m survive living . But you man living in that country having all those roads to cross with this Shadow, just have a fun and God Bless you for all that . chears.

Couldn't agree more with your assessment of the ACE 750. Three years ago, I grabbed a 2000 model as my "return to riding" bike after 20 years away raising kids. It's been an absolute joy to own, and fun to fix up and make my own, without worrying one second about reliability. All day comfort and enough power for a single rider, while being easy to handle and cheap to run.

You may be a bit cramped on the seating position, but the weight is not an issue. It has a capacity of at least 500 lbs. I would definitely go sit on one first, though. The seating should be fine, but your legs.. on the mid controls may be a different story.

Really loved your video. I'm a new rider and was looking to get a new Honda Rebel 500 but couldn't find one since it's the most popular bike for new riders right now. So then, a good friend of mine let me sit on their Honda Shadow and I just ended up falling in love with how much more "cruiser" it is. Plus I always imagined being on the highway more than in corners, so I thought the added weight would help with stability.

I reved it up and with some good rpm, and clutch play, i popped a wheelie...scared the hell outta me. Didn't know what to do... so I let off the throttle. It slammed down. The bike died....Then I just hit the button to crank it, and headed home lol. It's literally a bullet proof bike lol.

Lol, that would've scared the crude out of me. They are tough and so well built. Even folks like me ( I can only speak for myself) can survive some of the stupidity I have pulled. It's like honda said "okay let's make one that will forgive Tim." He may be an idiot but doesn't deserve to die, lol

@meandmyshadow7839 when it comes to mileage on a bike, how high is too high? I know it really depends on how well it was maintained but out of curiosity.
@meandmyshadow7839
@meandmyshadow7839 Жыл бұрын
Depends on what your getting as well. A well maintained shadow or really almost any honda can last.well over 100k. As a rule of thumb if the bike is say an 09 and it has 120k that might be to much. I always try and get the lowest miles possible and if it's a private owner I will have a mechanic look at it or bring someone along that I trust who can evaluate the bike before I buy .
@meandmyshadow7839
@meandmyshadow7839 Жыл бұрын
Also keep in mind if it has let's say 60k on it but everything checks out that bike (thinking honda shadow here) has at least another 100k miles left on it if properly maintained. Hope that helps. Also anyone else on here please feel free to chime in.
@Road_Rash
@Road_Rash Жыл бұрын
Milage is certainly an issue, but as long as the bike is well maintained, it's not a major issue with Japanese motorcycles...still, it's pretty easy to find these bikes at unbelievably low milage at no more than $3K-$4,500...just takes a little hunting...I got mine for $3,500 with only 5,941miles on it...anything under 5-6K miles will usually be in pristine condition with no issues of any kind...but 10-20K miles is no problem for these bikes either...mine is currently pushing 40K miles & still runs like brand new, & still looks very nice, with very few noticeable marks on it...& I use the lowest octane at the pump...I wouldn't dare put that in my Road King, unless I want to wind up stranded, but these are made & tuned to run on that...these bikes are built to last, so having a few miles on them doesn't really effect them as much, but I'd certainly still go for the lowest mileage I could find in my price range, but these bikes are pretty inexpensive & easily affordable most of the time, even at extremely low mileage...

Its got an overcomplex carburetor all the way to 2005. Big weakness. Harley has a single simple carb and if you have a problem you can just buy a generic carb for $40 and swap it out, but generic carbs will not work on the Shadow.. Most bike carbs are easy to rebuild, the Shadow carb is a nightmare. I have a 2005, its nice but the forward controls are too short even for me at just a 30in inseam so my knees are too high. I ride to look good, and having my legs bent ruins my ascetic. I have the opposite problem on my 2007 Harly FXWG in that I am stretching to reach the pedals.

I grew up racing motocross and have been on 2 wheels in some form or another my entire life, im finally taking the step to getting a road bike, and the honda shadow 750 is what i been looking at (havent tested yet though) , I dont care about namebrand shits, i also dont care about having the biggest beefiest hog on the road, i also care more about country roads than the highway, but acceleration is what i want, imo its not about top speed, you get used to that, but to be riding them turns and dragging ass outta them, ya, thats my goal. Do you think the honda shadow 750 fits the bill or do you think i should be looking more toward 1100-1200 range? thanks

While the 750 has plenty of get up and go, I'm not sure performance wise. Definitely get out on a test ride first. I will say that handling the 750 is better (my opinion), then a larger bike like you mentioned. Bigger bike, bigger displacement, and a lot heavier. Just some food for thought.

I have never owned a Shadow 750. It's not that I don't like the bike, but except for the very first Shadow 750s, they all have tube type tires. I will not ride a bike with tube type tires. They have almost killed me, they have left me stranded countless times, and they have cost me a fortune in towing bills. I am FINISHED with tube type tires. Otherwise I think the Shadow 750 is a great bike. It was the 700cc bikes that Japan came up with in response to the Harley tariffs. I have never heard of a bike with an actual 750cc. Even the 700s were 699cc. The Honda Rebel 250 is only 234cc. It's kind of like the price of a gallon of gas always ends in nine tenths. Just one tenth away from the next whole number. I love carburetors. I have never had any problems with them. But I can fix them if I do. I won't touch an EFI computer bike with a 10 foot pole. Most people who are not mechanically inclined are not interested in motorcycles. In love motorcycle because they are MACHINES (excluding computerized motorcycles) I was a professional mechanic for 37 years, now retired. I have always done all my own maintenance and repairs on my motorcycles. The Honda VTX1300 and VTX1800 are great bikes, IMO the VTX1800 is simply too big and too heavy. They weigh more than a Goldwing. But they do have tubeless tires, which means they are going to be a lot safer, won't leave you stranded, and won't cost you more than you paid for the bike in towing charges. The most comfortable cruisers I have ever ridden have been the Kawasaki Vulcan 750 (I have over 230,000 miles on three of those) and the Yamaha Virago 750 and 1100 twin shock versions.

In the early to mid-80s when our country put taxes on their bike over a certain size, is the reason Japan started making Harley look alike. They sold for much less and performed better than the Harleys of the time. The mistake was the USA decided to tax them instead of making a better motorcycle.

I don't believe a 750 is too powerful for a new rider especially here in Finland (EU) as your A2 license course is usually on a 690/700cc motorcycle KTM, Yamaha MT07 so a Shadow doesn't have that kind of 0 to 60 speed or horse power, a 750 cruiser would be far easier to handle than a snappy throttled naked bike.
@meandmyshadow7839
@meandmyshadow7839 3 ай бұрын
You are correct. The 750 Shadow is pretty easy to handle, and the power is definitely more forgiving . The only thing that might intimidate a new rider is the weight. However, once you're on and riding, it's hardly noticeable as the weight of the bike is so low. I honestly believe that the Shadow makes a great first bike. Great comment and you are definitely correct. Great comment. Thank you.

would this bike be okay for commuting to and from school? I take the highway about 40 miles per day @70 mph and occasionally 75 to pass. Can this bike do that? Thanks for the video! looks like a great bike! I'm looking at a really clean 2008 shadow for just 2-3k Edit: If I don't get a shadow, I was going to pick up an old Harley 1200 sportster or maybe even a Yamaha stryker if i can afford it haha
@meandmyshadow7839
@meandmyshadow7839 Жыл бұрын
Yes this bike can handle that however for hwy speeds I might consider a bigger bile such as the shadow 1100 or vtx 1300 or vtx1800. The 750 can do this but for a bit more power you may want to consider a bit more cc. Just a perso nal opinion.
@thomasjordan5578

It will be fine. Bigger and heavier would be appropriate for sustained high speed long distance. VT 750 may be exactly correct for what you’re doing.

I honestly believe that abs is better but I have adjusted for that with my breaking and allowing for time to stop. ABS would be nice honestly I don't see the need. That's just me though.

what i wished i would have known about the shadow 750 was that honda decided to take the decent featured and performing shadow 750 of the 80's and turn it into one of the slowest least featured street bikes on the market. the 80's shadow 750 had around 70 hp 6 speed gearbox, a top speed of 130ish and a low fuel light indicator. my 2000 shadow 750 has a romping 46hp, a 5 speed gearbox, a top speed of 90 if you're going downhill and no fuel indicator or gauge with a gas tank that you can't even see the fuel level unless it's full my shadow is so gutless that on the highway when you come to an incline you can't keep up with the flow of traffic even at full throttle. i wanted a highway cruzer, something my 80's era 650-4 isn't good at, what i got was a way slower bike that isn't good at highway riding......
