Our rock picking implement of choice was a '78 Ford 4x4 with (numerically) high gearing and the transfer case in 4L. It would lope along at a pace that would allow one person on each side to toss rocks into the bed. The furrows were usually enough to keep it straight so you could simply worry about rocks. Get to the fence line, turn the truck around and go the other way and empty the bed. Rinse, repeat.

its funny seeing a 7000 series on the 566 baler because we have VHS's on both and i watched them dozens of times when i was little so i would be shocked if i couldn't hop in that setup and figure out how to run it. Although the JD baler monitors are fairly nice and simple.

Great video Ryan . Im from Colorado we farm in squares but I even knew why you conture farm, it is like the old strip farming here but that is to control the wind on light soils. It is pretty looking but harder to work. I am still trying to see how the corn planter work is it wasteful on seed?

So, your farms use it like we use wheat, barley, or oat straw. We have had cattle for years, but first time corn growers this year. Only 40 acres. Corn has lots of growth. is it hard on the baler? do you have any tips?
@toddcat648 жыл бұрын
have you ever figured had much p and k you are removing when you bale the stalks also do you add extra fert where you baled or is this where you spred your manure
@troyp4678 жыл бұрын
ok i was talking with my dad about the field shapes and that was what he was thinking. He said more in lines of don't some states down there have regulations about chemical runoff and that is why you have grass fields in lower spots? Thanks for clearing it up it made no sense to me but our grounds is somewhat hilly but nobody does that in Manitoba.
@Northern_Farmer8 жыл бұрын
The grass in the low spots is where the water runs... so it wont erode the soil cause the grass's roots will hold it there.

Do you guys ever contemplate inoculating the corn stalk bales that you use for feed with an additive like a protein supplement with molasses in it to increase the food value of the bales?
@philiplogemann3148 жыл бұрын
R MacK the bales are not specifically being used for food. They are doing it for bedding but the cows will end up eating some of it not enough to inoculate them though.

How Farms Work why do you shut your baler off when you eject the bale? We have a 567 JD baler and we don't shut ours off. Great video
@PAHerefords8 жыл бұрын
Garrett Sims they don't shut it off, it's just the belts loosen from the drive bar, but the pto is still running. our baler does the same thing, otherwise the belts would tangle one another
@garrettsims72028 жыл бұрын
Brandongriffith450 Watch the belts because at first I thought I was misinterpreting what I saw them I started watching the pto shaft it would stop when they went to eject a bale.
