4:04 dont recognize it but i swear i see a birds wing 1 oclock position the way you have it oriented. also looks like some kind of small heraldic design at the 12 position. maybe try doing a rubbing of it with a soft pencil to bring out hidden features. or maybe an impression in clay? hey mudduck found a CS officers belt buckle! he can act any way he wants to lol!!!congrats phil!!! with all those buttons still a great outing for you walker!

What a super find. Have never dug a CS plate but have been present when one was dug. My best was a 1851 Virginia Sword Belt plate and a 100 pounder Parrott shell . Congratulations Mudduck!

Awesome finds and great video. Would love to get back into Virginia to hunt again. The pickings up here in MD are a little slim since the property owners are alot less likely to give you permission. Especially close to battlefields.

Thank you for the comment Robert. Virginia is very quickly following the path of her neighbor to the North. Finding permissions takes much longer than the time in the field hunting!

@thebattlefieldwalker2841 sure does.... I have spent at least 15 to 20 hours driving around "door knocking" place in and around South Mountain gaps. American Battlefield Trust has bought alot of properties up here. It's sad because everything in the ground is just going to rot away never to see the light of day again.
