We spend the day digging in and around civil war trenches in historic Cold Harbor, Virginia -it was a really GOOD day! And to the young lady to which I gifted some relics: Virginia, You can watch me dig the bullet I gave you at 5:10 and the shell fragment at 9:53. I hope you enjoy them! Special thanks to my digging partner for the day Jake Murdock @carolinametaldetecting #metaldetecting #relichunting #civilwar

Mom really enjoyed this video! She loves when you hunt Cold Harbor. She wishes we still owned the house on Cold Harbor, & she would let you dig there! Thanks for making great, interesting & informative videos!! We’ll keep watching 😊

I wish she still owned some Cold Harbor property too!!!!! I am so humbled that your Mom enjoys these things. I wish my dad was still here (If he could be healthy!) because I would love to discuss my finds with him. I think he'd be shocked that there was anything left to find. My love to your mom, my appreciation for her support, and my very best to you and your fam. Please tell Nancy I'm eating lunch tomorrow with a very old mutual friend. DUANE!!

Just WOW Mike. I know Jake will be intrigued to read this. How strange to think that your ancestor might have heard one of the shells go off, of which we found frags, caseshot or fuse . . .

My great x2 grandfather Ephraim Bates fought in Cold Harbor for the Union. NY 8th Heavy Artillery Co F. But they fought as infantry. He was wounded in Cold Harbor June 3rd and again in June 20 or 21 I believe. Altogether in the civil war he was wounded 4 times, loosing and eye, a finger, shot in the neck by a mini ball (dug out of his neck with a jackknife in the battlefield) and shot in the abdomen and he carried that bullet in him until he died in his mid 70’s in Minnesota as a homesteader on a civil war pension. He’s buried in Randall Minnesota. It is my dream and bucket list to visit the battlefields of cold harbor, Siege of Petersburg, and Appomattox Courthouse. A bonus dream to ever search and metal detect relicts, I’d probably choke up on my first civil war find. Someday I’ll make the trip there from Alaska where I live. I love your channel and content Sir. Thank you for sharing

If you ever make it to central Virginia, look me up! I am wowed by your ancestory and how much you know about them. That's cooler than anything I find, mostly nameless.

Dewey, I'm afraid I'm technologically challenged and pretty boring. When I'm in a very trashy site, I hunt graph or hot sifter. But on battlefields, like this hunt, I just hunt straight "deep" all the way and listen for the whispers.The grapeshot and fuse were only feint chirps . . . but if I'm in a trench, a feint mouse-whisper is music to my ears!

We love your channel!! Nice finds! Quick question...a couple of us on our channel use the Deus as well. What program were you in to hit on those deep bullets?
@thebattlefieldwalker2841
@thebattlefieldwalker2841 Жыл бұрын
I'm not an innovator at all dude. Technologically ignorant. When I'm on a battlefield without a ton of trash, I am simply on the "Deep" program. I do use the largest Deus head which does make a difference. At least a couple inches, maybe more, deeper. And in trenches like these, I dig every WHISPER of a repeatable signal. That's the ticket. I'm honored that you are enjoying this stuff. Thank you sincerely, for the compliment!
