I LOVE the date at the "12" and I wish more brands would do it.These are great, but I wish they were a little more legible.

One of the best/unique design microbrands out there, since their start. Hope they stay on this route. Thanks for the review Shane, be well mate, cheers.

You’re so right about the need to stand out in the interminable ocean of major, micro and aliexpress diver watches and a quirky logo definitely helps. I like this Peren. As you say it’s different, a no nonsense tooly watch (and doesn’t have CW’s dagger hour hand that I’ve never got on with). It deserves to succeed.

The Tusino Shellback diver has it all over either one of these. Illuminated date at 6, those Rivian headlight indices (the singular of indices is … index).

I think it is a pretty watch, but they should have made the date window larger and put a large lume-block surrounding it to mark the 12 position

It seems rather handsome. Pricey, but I like it. It seems to capture a vintage yet modern look. Kind of reminds me of a Unimatic.

I do like the Nera Rogue model, it has Unimatic vibes. I agree, the date at the top gets on my nerves.

looks so cool it feels more like a field watch to me

The case design and bezel give me an industrial vibe. I really like that part of it. The dial no. Indices, hands, not a fan. Date is ridiculously small. Good review Shane. Thanks 👍

I think you nailed it with the date position, and trying to do something "different". Some "different" choices are different because they are bad choices... I also agree that it's a bit of a shame they dropped the fangs, it's the one thing that made the brand stand out in my mind over the sea of other "minimalist" watches out there.

It’s a great watch that seems to elevate simpleness. Definitely too expensive for me, but I think it’s worth the money if you like it. Thanks for the great review!

Great review 👍 . It is over my price range, but I do prefer this to the Christopher Ward. I like the dial/hands/case even the fact it is on rubber. However, you are right, the 12 area looks like something is missing, I think they could add a larger luminous circle around the date window, it wouldn't make the date easier to read, but I think it would look great.
@cluxton167912 күн бұрын
A larger lume circle around the date window would’ve been a nice touch

I own the Peran Nera Rogue X, and it's a great watch, although the L2L is a little long. I agree the bezel actions is fantastic, but would like to see them offer a bracelet

I hack @ the 12:00 just like you. It is very difficult to get a proper hack with the date @ the 12:00. I bought the Blue Glass Box instead of the black Heuer Carrera with the date @ the 12:00 for that very reason. Great review as always Shane, Thanks!

My first reaction this reminds me of Unimatic. Huge opportunity missed not adding a lume block around the date window!

That would of been a good addition.

Unique design language is what it is all about for me. I love my Helm komodo, and I love my brew (and I love my coffee).

Helm and brew are great. I still sort of regret selling my komodo.

I agree with your statement that Peren focused on design at the expense of usability (or practicality) with this watch. I would add the hollowed out indices and the bezel design (small bezel with tiny, low contrast numerals, particularly along the outer portion of the bezel insert). For a very niche brand like Peren where buyers probably already have more than one other watch, perhaps they believe that is the best way for them to stand out in the marketplace. I don't know if I agree with that, but it is what it is. Also, I completely agree with you on Lumicast; the lume is never as good as you think it is going to be. I think that's because in traditional indices, the surrounds focus the lume upward, but that doesn't happen with lumicast indices. It's still cool!

Two thoughts. At first glance, it looks like a field diver or maybe just a field watch due to the bezel. Also, with the date at the twelve position, in the dark, i would think the watch is upside down. Still a fair review as always.

Also somewhat reminiscent of a Unimatic

Loved the review - great job, Shane (as always) - but not a fan of the watch. Yes, the price is off putting, and yes, the 12 o’clock date isn’t great to me, but for me it’s the mice-type on the timing bezel. You’re a young looking man, Shane - but as a scientist (who I believe wears glasses), you too will still likely need bifocals or “readers” to see that tiny type as the years pass. It’s annoying to have put on special glasses to see something on your watch. And this also applies to microscopic dates as well. Keep up the great work.

Thanks. Although I'm already getting there with my vision. Mid-40s now, and it's getting a bit harder to see that kind of small up-close stuff than just a few years ago. I actually have parts coming for a new build a watch video, and I'm wondering how that's going to go. Might need to get something to magnify all that.

I really like the design, but for this price and without a (really good) bracelet I would prefer to pay more and get the CW.

I think that is a cool looking watch but it doesn't really have a diving watch vibe. I would consider this more of adventure watch. At least that's what it looks like to me. I would love to see the dial with a 3, 6 and 9 indices. Also, the color of the date window should have been in red. Same with those little minute dot indices. That would have popped like mad. I think that watch is priced perfectly fine.

i wonder when watches started moving to preferring blue lume over green feels like it's all blue now
@RelativeTime12 күн бұрын
It's been slowly happening over the last 5 years. One thing I've got to see by doing the channel. For some reason microbrands started to prefer it. Maybe because it set themselves apart from Seiko, etc.

I fail to see a real connection to the Sarmizegetusa Regia temple/calendar. It is, finally, a Peren that looks good though but the price is too high, regardless of the Swiss Made tag. I can appreciate what the fellow Romanian is doing here but the connections just arent there, no matter how the models are named.

To be honest at this price point it’s got to be good Christopher ward is overpriced in my opinion but they are knocking out a lot of watches at the moment I like this watch but it is way out of my league it’s very nice though

@RelativeTime12 күн бұрын
@@Raduldo it really depends on the watch. Sometimes I can get them under 10 minutes, other times I think there's more to say. The thing is my priority here is really more information than entertainment. Ideally both, but if I have to prioritize something it's information. I look at this as a service for those that are actually interested in buying one of these, so that they really know what they're getting into before they ever spend their money. Which is also one of the things I think separates my channel from most others out there. My biggest criticism is that many of the other channels are more focused on cranking out content, than actually spending time with a watch and really getting to know it. Which is why I think a lot of people don't trust online reviewers anymore, But that's another story. Either way, thanks for giving the channel a shot. cheers!
