Speaking of X68000, you'll want to check out History of Elthlead on that computer...it's an EXCELLENT prequel to the Langrisser series on the Genesis/SNES/Saturn/PSX which is currently being remade and released on modern consoles and Steam...also Crest of Gaia on the PC Engine.

Paul Bizkit The x68000 was one of the most powerful home computers of it's time, and was used by companies like Capcom as devkits for their arcade games; so it has one of the better game libraries of any retro home PC. They're not cheap for original hardware, but emulators and FPGA cores exist.

When my RPG-starved-self got Ogre Battle 64 as a teenager all my jealousies of everyone enjoying their many PlayStation RPGs disappeared. I put so many hours into OB64. It still lives in my N64.

Ogre battle 64 is one of my all time favorites! I LOVED training my troops and building my armies exactly how I wanted it. Also liked Warlocked quite a bit.

Captain Blood is such a fantastic game. Even now, there's absolutely nothing on any system that can compare to it. It's just... unique.

I remember getting Commander Blood in one of those PC game bundles that came with like 12 games and it was definitely the oddest one of the bunch. I somehow managed to make progress even tho I had no idea what the hell was going on, but eventually got stock at a certain point.

@@TonyGearSolid Well, Commander Blood was defintely a weaker title (we were at the end of the "French Touch" era, which gave us people such as Eric Chahi (Another World), Frederic Raynal (Alone in the Dark) or Paul Cuisset (Flashback)).

Whoaaa was not expecting Warlocked! Some of the wizard abilities would break the game but you can decide to play without them and the learning curve was very fair

Man... Warlocked has an amazing soundtrack. I dabbled with that one a little bit, but what a cool little game! Thanks for that surprise 3DO title too... it's so interesting seeing what's hiding on other consoles I barely know anything about.

Yay for Lucky Dime Caper, it's such a hidden gem. The Master System is in general very overlooked. Maybe because a lot of the games on it seem like they have better ports on the Genesis while they're actually very different games. Castle of Illusion for instance has different levels, enemies etc. It's really worth it to dive deeper into the library.

There's a PC engine 6 button controller (well, many of them) you can use them to play Street Fighter II and have one hell of a good experience with it that way!

Having only two buttons and having to alternate between punches and kicks is most definitely a deal-breaker for Street Fighter II...

The SNES version is probably the best overall. The PC Engine version does have better sound effects, especially voices, than the Mega Drive/Genesis version.

@@Keith2XS It definitely has more colors than the Genesis version. The PC Engine version has its fans that would say it is the best. Each system's version has things going for it. I actually prefer the Genesis version, then PCE, then SNES.

The weak strikes would be on the Run button, with Select switching between punches and kicks. Using Run as an action button worked well enough under the circumstances. There were two or three good six-button pads available though.

Quite the variety. Great video. Red Alarm for VB was a childhood favorite of mine. Got it for less than $5 and the VB system was only $30. Got it as a kid when they were unloading stock at Walmart when the system had been discontinued. VB had some solid games for its small library.

Pirates! remains one of my very favorite NES games. The sword-fighting is so smooth. Its only drawback is that it lacks a map!

I sank hours into Ogre Battle 64. Once you understand how to groom units you can easily become overpowered and it is very fun. It can be pretty convoluted just how to do this on your first playthrough , but when I was in high school and had a ton of time to kill that was part of the fun.

I'm so glad you found Captain Blood. I always think their is so many US KZbinrs who have never dropped into the Euro scene. I'd recommend Purple Saturn Day on the ST/Amiga and please have a look at Deus Ex Machina on the ZX Spectrum. Not to be big headed... But Europe and especially the UK was far and ahead in game development in the 1980s

Speaking of Amiga. "Sensible Soccer" for Amiga is a totally awesome game. I'm not much for sportsgames at all, but it was way before it's time and I wouldn't hesitate to play it together with a friend today. Also the joysticks you could get to Amiga was great in this. Check it out!

Only thing that bugs me about Lucky Dime Caper is the misconception that Scrooge McDuck's Number One Dime is a lucky charm. It's a memento of a bad deal he got on his first job as a child that inspired him to leave Scotland and seek his fortune. But hey. Props for making a video game that involves the Disney Duckiverse, I guess.

Just a friendly fyi, Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together and Ogre Battle 64 happen at the same time, with 64's story line starting slightly before Tactics Ogre a year after March of the Black Queen. It's therefore not necessary to have played Tactics Ogre in order to follow the story chronologically. Very underrated gem.
