The critics missed the boat with these guys. They weren't trying to be the beatles. They were punk with good musicianship. Incredible energy, up to par with the Kinks and the Who.

If we could have gotten rid of the critics and the media earlier just imagine how many more bands we would have and how long the knack’s run would have been. But I’m just glad they splashed down when I was coming of age so I could have a new sound to bend my ears and lyrics I could relate to.

This is the clean version. The album lyrics are (note the differences): She's your adolescent dream School boy stuff A sticky, sweet romance And she makes you wanna scream Wishing you could get inside her pants So you fantasize away While you're squeezing her You thought you heard her saying Good girls don't Good girls don't But, she'll be telling you Good girls don't But I do So you call her on the phone To talk about the teachers that you hate And she says she's all alone And her parents won't be coming home 'til late There's a ringing in your brain 'Cause you could have swore You thought you heard her saying Good girls don't Good girls don't But, she'll be telling you Good girls don't But I do And it's a teenage sadness Everyone has got to taste An in-between age madness That you know you can't erase 'Til she's sitting on your face You're alone with her at last And you're waiting 'til you think the time is right 'Cause you've heard she's pretty fast And you're hoping that she'll give you some tonight So, you start to make your play 'Cause you could have swore You thought you heard her saying Good girls don't Good girls don't But, she'll be telling you Good girls don't But I do And it's a teenage sadness Everyone has got to taste An in-between age madness That you know you can't erase 'Til she's sitting on your face (And it hurts) Good girls don't Good girls don't But, she'll be telling you Good girls don't But I do Good girls don't Good girls don't But, she'll be telling you Good girls don't But I do But I do But I do But I do

Nice! Song is a big 'punchier' with the originals alright, and a good example of 'stuff that can't happen any more', even though all my female friends at the time sang along with it just as excitedly as I did 😆 I always thought the prechorus was (at least for 1 or 2 of the choruses) " So, you start to make your play 'Cause you're gonna score ... ". Pretty sure the whole gang sang it that way too - funny to learn it in my 50s in 2024

Did they ever made a video of this song using the correct lyrics?

I was 14 when this came out. I couldn't believe the lyrics. This was REALLY racy for 1979. It definitely got me fired up because this was all I thought about at 14.

So, you didn't hear, "She's So Selfish" back then? I can't believe that existed in 1979.

I was 17 when this came out. I bought the lp at a Sam The Record Man here in Hfx,NS,Canada. The store didn't last very long but my memory of buying the lp is etched in my brain. Always thought this was the best track on the record. Still have my copy at the age of 50. Thanks for the posting. First time I've seen this video!!

These 1st two albums were all recorded in June 79. Doug wanted a double lp. 2nd released February and the backlash was swift and brutal. Superstars at Christmas. Has beens by Easter.
