For everyone who's curious Doug Fieger, 25 at the time (the singer) fell in love with a girl from a clothing store named Sharona Alperin, 17 at the time, but they were both in relationships at the time. He broke up with his girlfriend and went after Sharona. They were messing around, although she was still in a relationship. They started dating a while after he wrote a few songs for her; including My Sharona, That's What the Little Girls Do and (She's So) Selfish. They were together for 5 years, but broke up when alcoholism took over Doug. They remained friends. Sharona was with Doug during his last week, when he died of cancer. Also, Doug stated he wrote My Sharona from a 14-year-old boy's perspective.

@leokimvideo "Greatest guitar solo in pop / rock history" Not even close. There are at least two dozen better guitar solos by Pink Floyd, The Who, Eric Clapton with any band, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Eagles, Steve Miller, and too many more to name. "My Sharona", great song. The Knack, mediocre band with average musicians who hit it big as one-hit-wonders.

Hahahaha me too, my whole life I grew up thinking that this epic and iconic song was released in the 80's, but only in my teens did I realize thanks to VH1 that this song was actually released in 1979, in fact this is the song that It killed disco music on all the charts at the time. 😊 But personally my favorite album from that year is George Harrison's self-titled album. 😎

Its actually the editors fault because multiple cameras are being used from different angles at the same time.
The people who know the editing equipment very well dont know the music instruments very well.

One of the greatest rock solos of all time being played and 1 - Guitarist gets less than 2 seconds on film 2 - Solo gets cut in half, before that mighty 500 measure sustained note Thanks a lot TV edits. :(
