this has been my set up for the whole time. flat bar with bar ends in the middle.

I LOVE my crazy bars! I put bar end shifters on the bullhorns, and for a comfort/touring oriented mtb it's perfect perfect

GENIUS! that sounds like a challenge. I have some Rivendell bar ends just looking for a project. =)

I'd use those horns a lot because I like riding with my hands on the hoods. I'd be cutting down the bar (to wide) and adding GORIX Bike Ergo Grips Cork Bar End Lock On Handlebar Mountain Bicycle MTB. They really reduce nerve pinch in my palms. For my commuter I used folding wire panniers on a rigid mountain bike.

You're so much better off just getting some flat bars at your preferred width and backsweep and adding bar ends inboard of your controls, that way you get literally all the benefits of the crazy bars but can pick your preferred backsweep, rise, width, horn width and horn tilt angle. I run ritchey kyotes with generic bar ends which are half the price as crazy bars and have way more adjustability.

I’ve done this exact thing without ever seeing anyone else do it. Worked really well and enjoyed the diff positions…tho it didn’t look pretty

@@PSmitty364 ikr I'm always torn between keeping the bar ends on and having a comfy and out of the wind position, or taking them off and the whole cockpit suddenly looked a lot better

@@goblinpiper for sure. At the same time, the bike I had em on was for commuting. So meh.. didn’t care. I will say what sucked was when I got a pair of bar ends that were grooved to only allow them to mount on the ends! lol…had to go back and explain what I was doing. I got funny looks but again… meh!

The Nitto B2522AA Jitensha handlebar - 610mm is my personal favorite commuting handlebar, having switched between so many (bullhorns, classic drops, micro drops, wide bars, narrow risers, and maybe a few more) over the years. Nitto Bullmoose, a close second!

Been doing this for years with barends by moving them them inbord , turn your favourite flat bars in to a decent crazy bar without the crazy price people

The reason VO don't offer them in 25.4/26mm is that you can't possibly use a quill stem with these bars, the majority of 25.4/26mm are used with quill stems. It's not worth to VO to offer alternatives for the 9 people on the planet that own a 25.4/26mm removable face plate quill stem.
@scrooge19135 ай бұрын
There are tons of threadless 1/18 stems with 25.4/26.0 mm handlebar clamp diameter. They were super common as early as the late 90's and are still available for purchase. I have a Thomson 25.4 stem on my Lynskey GR300 with the Velo Orange Randonneur bar. And yes I would definitely buy a 25.4 crazy bar. The original Crazy bar was actually 25.4 I've seen one in the wild!

I have Koga Denham handlebars which hit the market before the VO crazy. I too found them to wide and wind catchy so I cut the equivalent of the exposed metal from the endgrips to the horns. Perfect.

"Seine" is the name of the river crossing Paris. It's pretty curvy, maybe that's why they choose that name.

I rotate through three handlebars, depending on where I'm going and carrying: *jungle runner - wide roads and I have a handlebar bag *pursuit bar - urban areas with heavy traffic, wearing a backpack *flat bar - a bit more versatile, but a bit limiting on hand potions

I have a pair of these, but I ended up swapping them off. The only minor problem I had, but was critical, is that the horns point too straight forward. I think that before I reinstall these on a bike, I'll bend the horns inward a few degrees or find some other way to better mimic the ergonomics of a brake hood.

@generalprinciple7312 having a 20 lbs huge bag in the front is uglier to me.... I agree that an empty front rack is more hip though. I sont think rear racks are all ugly though. And for what Zack does, he can have a light and slick one that matches the anesthetics of the fenders and front rack ( nitto)
