This is literally one of the most entertaining Bollywood characters every played. Who doesn’t remember ever scene and dialogue with her as Pooh? Pure over the top comedy. It was absolutely ridiculous too because nobody has prom in college and none of the non desis would know what she was saying. The ten fans going which only blow in the actress’s direction. The odd plastic clothes. 0% realism but 100% comedy 90’s style. Oh and can we please give respect to those flawless abs? She must have been training nonstop for it. Gotta love it. They should do a sequel.

I mean that was the very identifier of her character, this beautiful girl who was so full of herself, she was hot and she knew it and made sure everyone else did too, she was so self obsessed that she would say "how dare you tumhara koi hak nhi banta ki tum itni khoobsurat lago" to her own image in the mirror. 😂 Poo was supposed to be over the top and dramatic. It was never meant to be a realistic character. It was played perfectly. And no other character in that movie has been this memorable for the very same reason.

Yes, seeing excerpts from this block-buster after nearly 24 years makes one realize how the gigantic talent of Kareena Kapoor has grown by leaps and bounds. Sure the part of Pooh called for her acting to clearly be over-the-top, but that was how her young character was; she was brash, flamboyant, never mincing words, calling a spade a spade. In one sequence, she even tells Kajol that she looks more fat when she wears green. When Kareena watched this recently in a video [that is a video within a video], she had a sly smile on her face as if with embarrassment. But, honestly her character portrayal of Pooh was truly lovable and relatable to youngsters of that era. We did love all the actors who took part in this film, but Pooh resonated with us long after the film was over. Incidentally, my best Kareena film was 'Taalash' in which she starred with Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherjee.
