Thank you for being one of the few that stuck it out in Michigan... It gets old seeing all the content from the easy to hunt states West of here... even Jeff bailed on us ;)

Thanks for the message. It is important to remind ourselves of all these things that are what really matters. This year is my son's first year hunting. He's been coming to the 15-ish square miles of remote land for a few years to help manage the family land, build towers, and build ground blinds where the paper company has logged. I've put a lot into choosing his rifle, optics, gear, updating my packing list, getting a couple extra things to make it more enjoyable, offering some tips and sharing my mistakes, etc. It would really be a shame to, after all of that and with how much our time means to me, ruin it by nagging about something that is just not a big deal. If we don't see a deer or he misses (it's the youth hunt), the local restaurant still has burgers, and in the cities, Sam's and Costco still have plenty of meat. My family is not relying on it for survival. We do it for the connection with generations of family, friends, nature, food sources, and indeed ourselves and our roots.

This video really hits home this year, My best friend and I have been coming to my family cabin for years now. This is my sons first year and possibly my uncles last so it is all about the memories this year. Great reminder, I really needed to hear that.
